Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Both the BMW and Porsche dealers I've used just give you a car from Enterprise and they don't really have any "same brand" loaners, just various Big 3 cars and mini-SUVs.
Leading evidence: 'Use just give you a car' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check on 2 words' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Suggestion
I don't think the dealers want to have a lot of $40-80K cars tied up in a loaner fleet, which is why they use Enterprise.

It just so happens that the dealer is also a BMW store and they offered me the use of one which they will eat the cost of.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The service manager at the local dealer now sends me e-mail updates of his attempts to get the problem fixed.
My new C4S with less than 3K miles died today on the road. Lost power, won't restart but battery is fine. Flat-bedded to the dealer, initial diagnosis is fuel starvation (technician asked me if there was gas in it!) Could be fuel pump, filter, who knows, details to follow. Arrrghhhh!
Got a Mercury Sable loaner. It runs, which my $90K Porsche doesn't. It is comfortable, quiet and in all ways adequate and it is dirt cheap. Its too bad I love cars and care about them like I do, life would be easier if I could satisfy myself with a new Sable every 3 years.
If it's fuel pump it's very easy, i ordered it and changed it myself in 1 hour, the car was back to full power in no time..
dont despair, soon you will throw the sable away
waz
$hit happens ... i hope its a minor thing and ur car gets well soon
similar thing happend to us before in my uncle's Audi S8 ... and it was fuel pump
Btw, what fuel do you use ?
Dealer says its an electrical connector failure, an odd part and they were on the internet to Germany to arrange shipment, not a good sign. Could be many days driving a Sable while making lease payments on a Porsche.
Should I have asked for a Porsche or similar loaner? The dealership also handles BMW, and I own one of those too that I bought from them, maybe I should have asked for a BMW loaner. I was so shaken by the Porsche dying that I was glad to be mobile again and didn't make any waves. Who was it that said 'nice guys finish last'?
Both the BMW and Porsche dealers I've used just give you a car from Enterprise and they don't really have any "same brand" loaners, just various Big 3 cars and mini-SUVs. I got a Jeep Liberty once and that was ok but the Neon autobox was a piece of crap. I don't think the dealers want to have a lot of $40-80K cars tied up in a loaner fleet, which is why they use Enterprise.

Don't you believe him! (The devil)
When you get her back and drive her mad, you will regret of what you thought about her.
Give her some time, she will make you fine!
It is now 5 days since the new C4S drifted to a halt at the side of the road. It sits, undisturbed in the exact spot to which it was towed at the dealer. The service manager says that they still don't have any response from Porsche to their email sent Friday. I asked him how long he was prepared to await a response before getting on a phone and getting in someone's face? I asked him to take possession of my problem and see it through to resolution, like he would like if it was his car. I think maybe he gets it. We'll see.
I did insist on a loaner upgrade and now have a new BMW 325ix, a very nice car, still no Porsche but tons better than the Mercury Sable I had the first 4 days. The beat goes on....
You certainly have great Patience!
A brand New 90 large car craps out with less than 3000 miles and YOU haven't called Porsche North America yet! 5 days and the dealers service dept. hasn't a "CLUE" when parts will be shipped!
Your dealer's sitting on his A$$... not making waves with his Porsche Zone representative... and you sat in a Sable for 4 days, now you have the Cheapie BMW 325... and you aren't YELLING? Your right , nice guys do finish last!
Drive it like you stole it Dad <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />
Good luck <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />
The service manager at the local dealer now sends me e-mail updates of his attempts to get the problem fixed. They now have a part number and are working with PCNA service reps to get the part to my car.
I called Customer Service at Porsche. They asked a few questions, many of which were stupid. Then, they said they would get back to me in 48 hours. Thanks for nothing.
I readily acknowledge that cars, especially new Porsches, are very complex things and that things will go wrong. Actually, its amazing any of the things run at all when you think about what is actually going on inside an engine. Nevertheless, I would very much like some compensation as it seems certain that I will be deprived of the car for at least 10 days and quite likely more. In Ohio, thats 10 days of good weather driving that are too precious to be wasted. Perhaps a several hundred dollar credit at the parts department or something like that, what do you think?
If you leased it and dont have it back within 2 weeks of when you had it towed, I would argue for a free months payment (which is quite common, at least in the NY Metro Area). Otherwise, maybe try to get a free service.
Good luck, I agree with the others...make the dealer so crazy that they want to fix the car just so they get rid of you....

<img border="0" alt="[oops]" title="" src="graemlins/oops.gif" /> Good luck, seems like your making headway. I don't know what State your in... but you might want to check on 2 words....
"LEMON LAW"
In some states, if your car is "out of service" for 30 days, Porsche's looking at buying it back ...or...
replacing it with a Brand New Car!
Sounds like your gonna be half way there! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
The latest is the connector and the associated wiring and sending unit are expected on MOnday, repairs should take less than 2 hours, I get the car monday afternoon. We'll see.
I appreciate the helpful comments and empathy from all of you. I hope to write the last chapter in this little (and I mean little!) tragedy early next week.
The part came in over the weekend, the service tech however called in sick on Monday. I did finally get the car this pm, washed and running well. All the people at the service department were as nice as they could be. The only real gripe I have is the lack of a loaner from Porsche. It just so happens that the dealer is also a BMW store and they offered me the use of one which they will eat the cost of. They said that BMW would have a cow if they submitted it to them for payment for a Porsche driver!
They jokingly stated that their Cayenne sales are so soft, they could let me have one of the 8 they have sitting on the lot next time. Thanks to all for your tea and sympathy.
