Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

My 2009 Boxster S started getting P2402 errors. I would clear the errors ( OBDII tool) and the error would always return. CEL is indicative that I have a failed Vapor Leak Detection Pump (PN# 997-605-125-01). I ordered the Bosch equivalent W0133-3591723 (1/3rd the price of the Porsche ) and decided to swap it out. This part is located inside the Carbon Canister. The Canister is located in the Frunk. It took me an hour to do the work. I would not recommend this to the average DIYer as it is a tricky install if you have not done it before. So far I am P2402 error code free. In my research, some people have eluded to that this issue comes on if you fill the tank too full. I am guilty of doing this on a regular basis, during my long trips. -Callahan-

POST 2Original post

I just had this problem repaired on my Cayman . Same code. Took it to my independent mechanic. I too was guilty of topping off the tank possibly contributing to this issue. When I had my Boxster , years back the Canister had an issue in that car too! I do not top off anymore!!!

POST 3Original post

HI Harold I followed your recommendation for the Bosch equivalent and purchased W0133-3591723 . ( W0133-3591723 | Partsgeek.com ). Definitely a cost saving. However part arrived and I noticed that it has Bosch 0 261 222 018 stamped on it. However, the old part has Bosch 0 261 222 021 stamped on it. The parts do look slightly different, but the connectors seem the same; do you recall noticing a difference between the 2 parts? I wonder if the part that you referenced just supersedes the part that I have. I have a 2008 Cayman S BTW. Thanks Dom

POST 4Original post

Hi I fitted the new part and cleared the error code. It hasn't come back, so I think everything is good. Thanks for your advice here. Dom
