Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I don't advise pulling a vacuum on a partially filled system.

Suggestion
I recommend draining the coolant from the coolant hoses back into a clean container and then use the air-lift to draw the coolant back in to the cooling system.
Leading evidence: 'Fill system' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'blue' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean container' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Because I have already filled the system prior will the tool still work properly.

Porsche must have changed the coolant reservoir location to match the Cayman sometime after 2005.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

About to replace the water pump on my 987
Boxster
and will be using a Schwaben Coolant Refill/Air Purge Tool. My question is simply where should I hook the tool up to the fill in the trunk or the overflow tank in the engine compartment¿
It's got to go on the overflow tank. The
cap
on the overflow tank has an internal vacuum relief, so if you try to pull vacuum from the fill port in the trunk it won't work.
Well I’ve received my cooling system vacuum tool. Because I have already filled the system prior will the tool still work properly. I ask because in the directions that came with it is says in BOLD print “Thus tool is designed to refill the cooling system AFTER it has been drained”. Is the fact that it is probably 90% full will this interfere with drawing the proper amount of vacuum So as to draw out the air that I hope is in there!
In my 987
Boxster
, the coolant reservoir is in the trunk. The
Cayman
's coolant reservoir is in the engine compartment.

2007 tank is in fact in the engine compartment, a fill neck and
cap
are in the trunk but there is a separate tank and
cap
in the engine compartment, this is also where the mechanical bleed valve is as well. Interesting that your diagram shows
Porsche
uses the
cap
/fill in the trunk rather than the engine compartment
My Boxster S is a 2005. Porsche must have changed the coolant reservoir location to match the Cayman sometime after 2005.

I don't advise pulling a vacuum on a partially filled system. You'll likely ruin the vacuum pump if it ingest liquid.

I assumed yours was an 07 because of the shop manual photo you attached. one thing I’ve noticed in the
Porsche
shop manual they often use older photos while talking about newer models, frustration sometime as you read and look at a picture while looking at your own car and they don’t jive!
Air-lift type systems use the venturi effect to create a vacuum and are not affected by coolant being extracted (you better make sure there is container to catch any coolant mixed with air being blown through the outlet tube).
The main problem is that it won't draw enough of a vacuum to clear any airlocks without removing a substantial amount of coolant first. I recommend draining the coolant from the coolant hoses back into a clean container and then use the air-lift to draw the coolant back in to the cooling system.

That’s exactly what I though, too small of a space to create enough vacuum. The tool really is designed with a hose that it’s says might expend air and or coolant. Well back up on the stands it goes!

Technically it's a "reservoir" not an "overflow" tank. Look near the top of the engine, under the panel on top of the engine. Look for a white translucent tank with probably a blue
cap
on it. That's where the vacuum connection from the vacuum lift system gets connected.
