Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

when I purchased my 09 cayman I had dealer run over rev report...which he gave me....thus I assume they can still run such reports

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

New poster, longtime reader/learner. I have been told that the new cayman s engines (09 and later) don't offer the same kind of output regarding over revs. In particular I was told that it is not possible to find out how long the engine has spent in any of the ranges (1-5) or even if it has had any overrevs. Anyone know if this is correct? Thanks

POST 3Original post

Thanks for the quick reply. It is supposed to be a feature of the new engine and Fueling system so I wonder if there could be a difference between the two models? Anyone here seen readout for a generation 2 S?

POST 4Original post

I've seen a readout on a 997/2, which is the same architecture as the generation II Cayman S.

POST 5Original post

The car will probably report on what you had for breakfast and what color is your underwear. Was the person that told trying to sell you a used car? Maybe a bridge?

POST 6Original post

Thanks to both of you. This confirms what wasn't sitting well with me.
