Hi All,
I've seen a base
Carrera
13 at the dealer yesterday and it has Sound Package Plus. I had
Bose
on my previous CS 11 model, and the sound quality was mediocre. So, is Sound Package Plus on
911
13 is worse than the
Bose system
on CS 11?
I appreciate your opinions.
Cheers,
Sarkis
Gee, no one is responding to you so I'll add my $0.02 ... I had the
Bose
in my
Boxster
and hated it - no amount of fiddling did anything positive. I had the Sound Plus in the
Cayman
and didn't think much of it; my current
Carrera
S cab has the Sound Plus and it's fine .. no issues. I wish I could hear the
Burmester
system .. that would make me change cars ...
ok ,
i went to the dealer yesterday...saw a S with a bur mister. (ok who knows how to turn off auto spell) .. heard it..and i was not too impress for the $ figure.
I have in the house briceston tube amps..and the speakers i use are B&W N1..bowling balls on the top). 8k for the upgrade i dont think its worth it....
I figured if you spend more than 2 hours on this car in the drive way listening away on the burmiester, you have no life. i figure if your a real audiophile , you should be in your sound room listening.. i think the
bose
is fine for driving and even the road trips...
i feel the burmiester is the PCCBs of the sound system...
for the money 8k buys you a lot in aftermarket and a lot more wattage for the buck.. although, space is a premium to stick a huge amp in the
981
. focals are brighter speakers..
just my 2 cents..
Lemon
lol, as if anyone would sit in their driveway for hours. Condescending remarks like that are sooooo limp. I ordered my car with a
Burmester
because there are lots of times when I can take advantage of the 1600+ songs in my hand picked library, be it slow moving traffic I encounter as a DD or long stretches of highway. Listening to artists like Dire Straits in high fidelity is a pleasure I avail myself of as often as circumstances permit, like cruising on the Coquihalla highway on my way to the coast from Calgary ...
Thanks gtkyl. I have already made my mind to buy a racing yellow
Carrera
with few options. Waiting for the finance approval
That's a (yellow) beauty! Good luck!
As to lemonlib ... not having heard the
Burmester
, I cannot respond to your comments about not thinking it's worth the money; I was just pointing out that my experience with
Bose
was disappointing, that the Sound Plus sounded better for less money. We can't always have a home system in our car (I wish) but I'd like to have the best sound quality possible as I too like to be soothed while sitting in traffic ... and educate me on Briceston tubed amplification .... I've heard of Bryston, but those are solid-state.
So I will throw money on upgrading the
exhaust
to
PSE
... The
Porsche
agent in Dubai told me that the upgrade will cost around $ 3,300. I think it will thrill more than
Bose
or even
Burmester
...
When I saw this pic on the web, I made my mind for a yellow
911
...
The
Bose
premium system in my 07
Cayman S
was awful. One of the worst "premium" systems that I have ever owned. The
Bose
premium surround system in my
997.2
is really not bad at all. The knobs actually change the sound when you use them. If you want to spend 8k you should expect a wonderful audio experience. Personally I would spend the 8k on some horns or a pair of tube amps for the house. Sorry to hear that about the Burmiester. For 5500 I would expect more
I have a 2012 991 CS with the
Bose system
and find it more than adequate. I had the
Bose system
in my previous 997CS and found it mediocre with boomy bass and muddled mid-range. I'm not sure what the difference is between cars but the newer
Bose
is much better than the previous.
