It’s my local garage and this will now be about the 5th time in a row I’ve used a different OPC for chargeable service work!

They will also change the air filter/s which can be a pain in the bum as they have to take the interior of the car apart to get to it.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All - Just been quoted £1200 for a first service (minor) on my CGTS 4.0. Feels like an awful lot but maybe i'm just surprised. There must be be a few members on here who have had their first service. What kind of numbers are you getting told?
991.2 GT3 was only £850.
Wouldn't expect to pay more than this on the 718 GT4 service due in a few months.
Negotiate the price the OPC need your business.

Wow. The £1200 came from an out of town OPC whereas I now have £1k quote for a London based OPC. Surely some are trying it on - oh and this excludes brake fluid. I'll keep calling around.

I paid £940 back in 2020 but that include brake fluid change plus one new tyre which had damage on inner wall.

On a 4.0 GTS? Are able to share which part of the country you got that?!
Oops sorry that was on a 2.5. GTS Mid Sussex OPC but don’t see why it should be much different on a 4.0 After all it is basically only an oil change plus some filters. No spark plugs etc.
I went non OPC, 40% of what you've been quoted. OPC's really are pulling peoples pants down, but I understand why.
Servicing it because you've hit the interval mileage/time wise, or just for peace of mind?

You MAY save a few hundred but clearly lose many £thousands on the residual value on a relatively new Porsche such as the 4.0 GTS we are talking about here with non OPC service history. Also gives warranty claims additional uncertainty and wiggle room. Also makes the car much much harder to sell even at a lower price and most OPCs understandably won't buy non OPC serviced cars.
And just to save a measly few hundred quid.
Been discussed many times before btw.

I was quoted £620 for a non-scheduled oil and filter change on my GTS 4.0. Porsche owned OPC as well.
The main additional cost for a scheduled service is brake fluid.
I have just been quoted £1064 including brake fluid from a Synter dealership so £958 with PCGB discount on my 718GT4. I am sure the same service on my 981GT4 was £600-£700 back in 2018. Has anyone sourced OPC servicing any cheaper than this?
Morning folks
My 4.0 GTS is approaching its first service.
Quotes so far (like-for-like, both including brake fluid):-
Reading = £1,126
Brooklands = £989
Seems the right ballpark given the above messages from last year. Anybody seeing anything drastically different?
Cheers
My notes have £945 as the standard price for the 718 GT4, the GTS will either be the same or slightly cheaper depending on how much under-aero the GTS has that requires removal.
Discounts are available, as av185 points out, and how much will depend on your relationship with the OPC.
Unfortunately, all manufacturers/dealers play this game. My Porsche won't be due a service for another 20 months yet, but I've experienced this with Mercedes and BMW dealers with my previous cars.
I'd love to see the breakdown to these numbers.
Is it because they mark up oil? Or have very high labour rates? Or because they go about everything very slowl, one task followed by the other?
Surely brake fluid change can be done in parallel (in part) while the oil is coming out the sump... which no doubt they do to maximise workshop throughput, but still bill as sequential tasks to the customer.

When I ordered my GTS in November last year, my service guy quoted me £750 for a 2 year service and £450 of just an oil and filter change.
Shop around even if it means you have to drive an hour.
I used Portsmouth over Reading , around £250 difference, think paid around £700 3 years ago.
Reading werent interested tbh , very cold and the price they quoted had no wriggle room .
Booking 2 months ahead for a loan car if i remember.

Oh, and ask them not to wash it. You may find that it's a little cheaper.

Especially if you don't want fine scratches on your paintwork either!

The other way to look at it is it's £500 a year to service. My wife's GLC200d costs not much more than £500 for a service and that's every year.
If you can, just put the £500 away each year. The 4 year service is a big one but again, that is another 2 years away.

I spoke to Reading and they rejected a price match.
It’s my local garage and this will now be about the 5th time in a row I’ve used a different OPC for chargeable service work! Silly really, but over that time I’ve probably saved about a grand now.
Prices at PCs are out of control even for a minor service oil & filter brake fluid change.
My cars won't be going back anytime soon .
Most after the 3 year warranty is out are going elsewhere for a more competitive price with just the same level of service.

Changes oil and charges £1k?! Is there any more to the first service?
TX.
Brake fluid change and visual inspection.
Oh and that all important official Porsche OPC stamp which will mean no warranty implications whatsoever in the event of a claim furthermore your sub 5 year old car is definitely worth more ££ than one serviced at an indie for £5 less and is far easier to sell as well.

On these £900-£1K services, what is the cost of the labour? What is the cost of oil? What is the hourly rate? How much oil is required?
Labour rate is about £150-200 an hour. OPC oil is expensive. You can buy the 7.5 litres of Mobil 1 oil for about £100 and the filter for about £15. Its the labour that rockets the price as they have to remove the under tray. Then do the oil change, do the brake flush and visual inspection. You'd like to think that they'd do the visual inspection while the oil is draining but who knows. The brake fluid change is probably 30 mins labour plus the cost of the fluid. They will also change the air filter/s which can be a pain in the bum as they have to take the interior of the car apart to get to it.
I always ask them not to wash it or top up the washer fluid as I'd have done that before it went in.

+1
Does it make sense to repeat a 6 year service with an OPC at £1100.00, after it was done in May 2022 by the independent dealer I bought the 718 CaymanS from. The service book already has the independent dealer stamp on it. They showed me the receipt that showed that at least the fan belt was bought from an OPC. However all the other previous services were from OPCs

LoL I doubt an indie is £5 less. I think people do appreciate why you would go to the OPC they do seem to be milking it big time is all.

Depends who did the service on behalf of the indie or if they did it themselves. If the service was done by a Porsche specialist then that stamp can be worth just as much as an OPC stamp however, as mentioned, Porsche won't extend the warranty on a car without an OPC service history.

I provided my own oil, still Mobl 1 .
I did the same with mercedes, ml had a 9lt sump and they would have charged me £21.50 a litre.

I’m pretty sure labour rates at my local is £150 per hour plus VAT. Daylight robbery.
Labour rates are not the OPC's fault. To be an OPC Porsche AG insist on you having up to date equipment for each technician, which amounts to laptops each and a small server farm in the workshop(!). They're refreshed every few years and cost an absolute fortune. Then there's the equipment required for safe battery discharge of Taycans etc.
The hourly rate is huge, for sure, but it's not just set high "because". In order to balance the workshop books, due to Porsche AG requirements, it has to be.
