Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there folks, just put my convertible hood up after a blast in the sunshine. The problem is when it was put up i noticed that the hood wasnt sealing correctly on the drivers side. Checked it out and the cable that keeps the tension on the hood to the window has snapped at the screw connection. Does anyone know where to buy a spare cable??? and how difficult is it to replace?? any info would be spot on, dont really want to have the hard top on too long now that the weather is getting better! Thanks again JC

POST 2Original post

One of mine seems to be the same. When i close the hood i have to stop it just beforeit reachers the rear window and tuck the tension cord inot the grove otherwise it locates outside the window and doesnt seal properly. So i'd appreciate advice too!! Dai

These people do them if you ask nicely http://www.car-hood.co.uk/ Try Charlie on his mobile - 07899 687232 The job is not difficult but it can be time consuming. I'd estimate 2 - 3 hours. You will need a Torx drive (think it is T27) and a pop-riviter (the holes for the rivits are about m6 bolt hole size to give you an idea on what rivit size you need) Do both sides while you are at it. You will need to remove the front leading edge of the hood from the frame by taking off the rubber seals across the front and down both sides (the bits where the drop glasses meet the hood) you will then see a series of torx & phillips screws. Remove all of them and then the fabric is free. Be carefull, the fabric is lightly glued to the front edge, don't rush it is easy to do. The cables are pop-rivets to Silver alloy plates threading through the hood to a loop held down by a torx screw where the hood hinges. Self explanitory when you are doing the job. :thumb: Lloyd
