Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

When I turn the ignition on I do not see the sliding road icon which would suggest traction control is active and checked (and then the icon should switch off).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 996 3.4 1999 model, C2S cab When I turn the ignition on I do not see the sliding road icon which would suggest traction control is active and checked (and then the icon should switch off). Was this an option? The reason I am mildly concerned is I really nail the car around bends and as I am learning the limits of the car I don't want to overstep them! Some correction from the car would be welcome!

POST 2Original post

PSM was only fitted to C4 at that time, so I doubt that you have it on your C2 I'm afraid.

POST 3Original post

You would know if you had PSM or TC as there would be a switch.

POST 5Original post

I have a 98 C2 and definately have traction control....have a big button to switch it off

POST 7Original post

This was fitted as an option to your car when it was being built. It would appear the OP's car was not optioned as such. ~ Maxie

POST 8Original post

PSM was a £965 option on early C2s (although once eGas was standard the price dropped to £673).

POST 9Original post

On early C2's (with mechanical throttle) it was a more basic Traction Control. PSM wasn't released until the MY1999 C4 with eGas was introduced. eGas was fitted to the MY2000 C2, so any C2 prior to that would have the TC option.

POST 10Original post

Off topic I knoww but sorry but what is eGas? American Cruise Control? Gas on demand? :?:

POST 11Original post

You are correct that it is an American term - for electronic throttle.
