Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
If you use a Valentine One, which in my opinion you should, I suggest you have the unit hardwired.
Leading evidence: 'Use valentine one' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use valentine one' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

...or is the cigarette lighter hole too small for a standard radar dector to plug in to? I read through some of the old posts, but everyone talked about a hardwire install, not just a plug-in and stick it to your windshield setup. Has anyone else had this problem, or do I just need to push a bit harder? Thanks.
BSC,
If you use a Valentine One, which in my opinion you should, I suggest you have the unit hardwired. This way you avoid any problems with the unit coming unplugged which can be a real pain! I've had instances where I'm driving along and realized that the plug had worked itself out of the socket so the unit was not turned on. This is not something you should have to worry about.
As far as the plug being too small, have not had a problem with my V1 in the lighter, tho will look to hard wire soon.
Ed996 - Radar detectors ARE illegal in VA. But that's only if they catch you. There are some real slick custom installs out there which hide it very well.
i know what your saying, the V1 is not a good one for hiding your signal, good detector but it leaks a hair more than the Escort 8500 or the Bel vector 985, all 3 i own, out of the 3 the 8500 wins hands down in all catagorys, and i have put them all in a line up on my dash to test them just for grins, though it was close between them all the 8500 has more range in the K and KA which most police around the country use, and i know it puts off low 'emisions' i have a leak old bel radar detector that detected the valentine like crazy as well as the bell but it didn't sound off on the 8500
NiveK,
ah, a side-by-side comparison that disagrees with the marketing. i just love that. you can't believe marketing for anything. anyone else do a side-by-side comparison of the 8500 and V1?
BSC,
You are correct in that the cigarette lighter is not quite a perfect fit.
Here is an excellent article on the subject:

I purchased the adapter plug: 901 613 801 00 and have had no problems since.
I think the fine for being caught using a radar detector in Virginia is now $40 (I think it used to be $25, but apparently that was not a significant deterrent), plus "costs" of another $40. It is not a moving violation, so no points go on driving record. For Virginia drivers who drive less than 10 mph over the limit, there doesn't seem to be much need for a radar detector, as there are usually enough cars going at least 15 mph over the limit to feed the bears. Please don't feed the bears.
