I recently purchased the following:
For my 2007 Cayman S - My son volunteered to take the car to Townfair in Norwich, CT (townfair.com). The deal is for military members can purchase the the tires 10-12% below townfair tire prices and with no sales tax. You have you have to go the the Sub base to make purchase. Prices are below tie rack with the military discount. I purchased 4 new Michelin Pilot PS2 (N4) tires.
I had previously met with the salesmen about providing the aftermarket TPMS. No problem. My son has the TPMS handed back to him and says they were unable to install them.
I think townfair was over their head or too lazy. My fault for not handling myself or going to a shop used to handling other high end performance cars. I plan to call the manager tomorrow. They do have a unconditional exchange within 30 days.
Thoughts?
I forgot to mention that I am now getting a red "flat tire " error on the display
I had a similar problem with my indie. I supplied the
TPMS
units I bought from OE Wheels/Titan (sponsor on this site) and the instructions with them said they needed to be programmed. Indie tried to sell me another set. I told him they were already programmed (according to OE Wheels/Titan) and to just install them the way the are. He did, took the car for a short "learning" ride and everything worked just fine. Have had them for over a year now and still working great.
Spoke to the manager at town fair tire ...having difficulty waking up the sensor
Any hints ?
and it cost about 80 bucks to remove and rebalance the
tires
...
thanks sucks..

Is waking up The vehicle just driving the sensors for about 10 minutes or is there a scan that has to be done prior to installing the tire
1st, of all. did you give your vin number to a
porsche
dealer for the proper frequency on your car. some cars has 433 hz, some has 388 hz... you have to know.. they can tell you over the phone what is the frequency your car is..
lots of aftermarket require their own brand of programmer.. if your tire place does not have proper programmer.. your SOL.
thats why i sell HUF. the no problem OEM .. same ones in the factory.. thats why we always ask for vin numbers before we ship em out.
So how much time you loosing? a day ? Some places charge per balance and Removal..?? Some after markets only last for half the life.. so you have to do it twice.. for the same life span of the OEMs..
just my 2 cents..

I did call the dealer and give them the vin to insure I got the proper frequency (433) - for a 2007 the dealer said the only "programing" occurs when it is being driven and is in the learning mode
so is the toms .. shacking hands? with your receiving unit.. that is made by HUF...you should be sending by about a 1 mile..

Since the tire place couldn't program the unit - they never installed them. I'm going back not to have them installed. Will post later the result
+1 on using the HUF units.
Townfair tire made good. They agreed to install the
TPMS
I provided at NC. They put them up to a scan which showed low
battery
on all of the 4 sensors. Don't know how long they had been on the shelf at this EBay seller. TownFair then offered be a discount and 4 provided sensors at $50 each, they synced before I left the parking lot. Challenge now to get refund from EBay seller.
