My 2009
Cayman
has the CDR 30 unit and the Bluetooth Interface. The system has always worked fine but a few days ago the bluetooth stopped working and the radio lost all its memory. I also noticed that the radio stations were being shown with different frequencies; for example AM 880 became AM 882. My phone would no longer pair with the CDR 30 and when I tried to reset the unit, it just reported "Telephone Not Available". I tried unpairing and re-pairing of both the phone and the CDR 30 with no success. I also tried resetting the unit, going back to default settings and even disconnecting the battery for about ten minutes with no change. I called my
Porsche
dealer and they said they had never seen this failure mode and had no idea of where to start. I should probably also add that I checked the "language" settings for the unit and they were set for English (American). At this point I have no other ideas and hoping that someone has run into this problem and has found a solution.
I know that the CDR 30 unit is pretty bad and many have replaced it but for my limited phone needs it was fine until this failure.
Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.
Peter
sorry to hear about your problem...
spotted this at the bottom of the page.

Thanks, I had seen that previous thread which did describe the same problem I am having. In that case, they replaced the head unit which doesn't make sense to me. If it was simply that the bluetooth add-on was not working it would make more sense but given the unusual (European?) radio station signals it seems like it is in some strange mode that should be reversible. Also, I wonder if it would be possible to get a new head for this unit at this point, and if it would solve the problem.

Peter I recall reading somewhere that a dealer visit is required to configure the unit to recognise the BT module during installation.
Same problem here... '09 CS.
Coincidently my cdr30 with bluetooth did exactly the same thing on the same weekend!
I was away with some mates on a road trip, came back to the car after a brief stop and when I restarted the car the radio was reset and Bluetooth functionality is gone.
I'm guessing that one of the following is the case:
1) bt module is broken resulting in the reset and functionality disappearing
2) the car settings were somehow lost, making it forget it has bt installed
3) a fault in the cdr30 means the functionality is disabled
A friend has suggested disconnecting the battery in case it is a CAN bus fault that may reset by doing that so I'll give that a go this weekend.
Failing that, I'll be getting my 6yr service soon so will get the garage to try reprogramming it.
It's not a massive problem but it was handy to have hands free calls, especially as I found the mic quality was very good.
If a reprogram of settings doesn't work I may finally bite the bullet and replace the head unit.
For info, I got the car (2009
Boxster
) a year ago and quickly installed an iSimlple iLCDR30
iPhone
adapter in the aux socket. That's been working fine for a year though so don't think it has anything to do with the fault.
Any update on yours?
