Suggestion

Oddly, the service notes say the tech reprogrammed the original radio and it worked, but then the Bluetooth was still not functioning, and it appears it was then decided to replace the radio.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hello all and happy new year. I have a 2010 Boxster with Bose and CDR-30 plus factory Bluetooth. Have been driving daily since September with no issues. Over the weekend I jumped into the car, turned on the radio and realized it had lost all my presets. In addition the radio is tuning "odd" frequencies like 882 khz for 880, 653 for 660 on the AM dial. I could live with all that, but Bluetooth has disappeared. When you push the phone toggle it says telephone not available, but when you then push the set button nothing happens. No menu for turning on bluetooth, discovering devices, etc. Also, noticed that on the CDR-30 screen at the bottom on right are the words TP On. Maybe this has been on all along, but I haven't noticed it--and it isn't mentioned in the CDR-30 manual. I know this will sound weird, but the only thing I did differently this weekend was remove the factory carpet mats and put in WeatherTech winter ones. In doing that i moved the passenger seat all the way back and am wondering if I somehow disconnected or damaged a module under the passenger seat? My local service department is closed today (extended holiday), so I plan to bring it in tomorrow but was wondering if anyone had experienced this?

For those who encounter the same problem and find this thread on search, here is the good news and bad. The dealer gave me a loaner, ordered a new head unit and installed it the next day, and it seems to be working like new. Oddly, the service notes say the tech reprogrammed the original radio and it worked, but then the Bluetooth was still not functioning, and it appears it was then decided to replace the radio. Unfortunately, I didn't get access to the tech and I couldn't get any more info. So: there have been three or four examples of this same failure on the forum (and who knows how many others) starting with the introduction of the CDR-30 , there is a known fault that has not been addressed, does not appear to be widely documented to the U.S. service network and the solution is to swap in a new head unit. Seems crazy to me.

Yep, same problem here, '09 CS. Hope dealer can help me, as I'm second owner.
