Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

So I recently took the plunge and did my own service my 06 Cayman S. Obviously wanting to reset my "service due" light, I purchased the iCarsoft i960 from ebay which claims to be able to reset the service light (the lesser icarsoft models don't). Problem is, I feel like I've been through every menu on the thing and read over the (crappy) manual that came with it and can't locate anything about resetting the service light. Can anyone help me out here? That stupid light is bugging me to death!

POST 2Original post

I am going through the same research myself and my findings are that the i960 will do resets, but appears it wont do a service reset. iCarsoft now make a Porsche iCarsoft POR II model, which does claim to do Oil/Light Service resets. I have asked for a money back guarantee on this before I purchase an I await their reply.

POST 3Original post

From my experience, the icarsoft doesn't do crap but give a few read outs and the UI is wretched. I returned mine the same day I got it and got pinged with a 15% restocking fee plus was charged for shipping to me even though the original shipping was free. I had good luck renting a durametric pro off of eBay for like 80-90 bucks. Free shipping both ways too. There was one eBay seller/renter that was offering a planet9 discount on durametric rentals at one point as well.

POST 4Original post

I assume it was the i960 you bought, which I have established definitely does not do service resets. However, I have a thread running on another forum to try and determine if the new iCarsoft POR II model will do service resets and looks encouraging.
