However, the directions for the seat mention a rear-seat application, so I poked around, and to make a long story short, found a top-tether anchor installed underneath a flap behind each rear seat.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After wrestling with research on fitting a carseat in the back of a 996 (unsuccessfully), I purchased the Porsche Convertible and had them install the air-bag deactivation kit. However, the directions for the seat mention a rear-seat application, so I poked around, and to make a long story short, found a top-tether anchor installed underneath a flap behind each rear seat. The convertible fits in the rear seat and accepts the rear seatbelts successfully. So, I am in business. I've seen other posts that mention no anchor - my 01 has it.

POST 2Original post

Hi Ed- Is your 996 a coupe or cab? Also, do you know what weight range the Porsche Convertible can accommodate? (I'm picking up my '01 C4 cab tomorrow, and I've stressed the practicality of the car to my wife, so I need a car seat which will let her take our 5-month-old son with her on her alloted 911 days (Tuesday's and every other Thurs.!))

POST 3Original post

Shortcut, The Porsche seats are great (if overpriced) I take my son (now 15 months 38lbs) all over, and he likes the Porsche Cabriolet much more than my wife's Odyssey Minivan even though it doesn't have a DVD player. I'm *sure* your 5 month old will appreciate the P-car as well. --Leon

POST 4Original post

my 2 year old goes in his porsche seat in the back of our 99 cab. there is no tether but the seat works well regardless. my 5 year old daughter sits with no car seat very comfortably ... i wouldnt say its a great family car, but no other car of this performance, thats a convertible, was able to pack in my wife AND 2 kids ...

POST 6Original post

should work in any 996. or prob any porsche with rear seats
