Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I'm wanting to replace the rotary buttons on my CDR24 radio. They're sticky and discolored. I've ordered the replacements from Suncoast, and noted their caution that you should have the proper tools, etc, to attempt replacement. However, there are old threads on this site that say it's a piece of cake. Can anyone chime in and confirm that it's just a matter of gentle pressure to remove the buttons and then press the new buttons into place. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Yes, just very gently pull the old ones off and push the new ones on. You can actually just clean the sticky rubberized coating off the old knobs. It leaves the knobs the same black color, including the silver ring. Looks the same, but just doesn't have the soft touch coating.

POST 3Original post

Finally got around to changing the buttons and it was as easy as advertised. Pull gently, the buttons come off, push gently, they go on.
