Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I also checked the inside of the oil filler, but there is no sign of gunk, just clean oil.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there, I was checking the fluid levels on my wife's Boxster the other day, and noticed that the coolant was well below the minimum. I topped it up, and had a check around the car for signs of leaks etc but couldn't find any. I have just checked it again, and it is very low again. There are no wet patches on the garage floor, and the inside of the boot around the tank is dry as well. I also checked the inside of the oil filler, but there is no sign of gunk, just clean oil. Does anyone have any idea where it could be leaking from?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Forgot to say, the car is a 2005 987 Boxster S

POST 3Original post

The water pump on these are well known for being made of chocolate. Top it up and start the car up then look for the leak

POST 4Original post

For a start make sure you have the latest coolant header tank cap (the thing you're unscrewing to add coolant), only c.£15 for the latest replacement.

POST 5Original post

I had this on my 2006 Cayman a couple of weeks ago - mine turned out to be water pump - drop the rear engine cover and see if it's collecting there - the water pump is at the bottom right behind the seats.
