I run a 4S with standard 18" rims - I recently had KW suspension fitted [which lowered it approx 3/4"] and then I fitted a 15mm spacer as the standard rims looked very much to be sitting in after it was lowered.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi there could anyone let me know the proper offset for a set of new wheels on a 2001 996 normal body, as the wheels i have on now seem to sit in a bit far. i like the wheels when they are flush with the arches at the top. any ideas ...... cheers :?: :?:

POST 2Original post

Hi. It depends on what wheels you have, different widths have different offsets. IMO, if they appear to be sitting in too much and they are genuine Porsche wheels it would only be on the rears as generally there is very little difference across the main wheel groups e.g. 18" fronts are ET50 or ET52 and 17" are ET55. On the rear narrow body 996s run 18"x10 ET65 rears, wide body 4S runs ET45. There is a possibility you are running replicas or just basic 17" wheels that are screaming to be upgraded. You can always, with care and guidance, use spacers to fill the arches but be careful with rubbing. Post some pics up and we'll tell you. Cheers

POST 3Original post

My original 18" Sport design alloys on mine were: Front 7.5J ET50 Rear 10J ET65 I am now running: Front 8J ET57 Rear 10J ET58 Ther rears look about spot on but the fronts could still probably go a 5mm spacer...

POST 4Original post

I run a 4S with standard 18" rims - I recently had KW suspension fitted [which lowered it approx 3/4"] and then I fitted a 15mm spacer as the standard rims looked very much to be sitting in after it was lowered. Even with the suspension - a 15mm spacer does not rub, and it brings the tyre perfectly in line with the top of the arch - mmmm, yum!! I tried 10mm first and the wheels were still sat in....

POST 5Original post

Sounds similar to Callum on here who's look really good. Just for clarity for OP there are 2 different offsets for the Turbo II wheels (standard on 4S and Turbo). They should be ET45 but you can get ET65 narrow boddy offset. Its easy to tell (like most Porsche wheels prior to some very recent 997 wheels) these have the width and offset cast into the rim either side of the valve.

POST 6Original post

yeah, looks lovely from the *rse end now..! nice 'n' fat!!
