Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

may need the cables re-aligned/new cables, also check if there is a recall on the lockdown motors- had all mine replaced when they did this on a general saftey recall, no idea if 996 was affected, but same symptoms as my 993, so worth checking with an OPC - see FAQ's on porsche recalls.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys, I recently had the BOW resprayed due to some scratches, work was carried out by Chaplaine of Colchester Porsche approved. I have just removed the hard top but the soft top will not lock into position correctly it stops about 1 inch from the window screen and that is it.It worked fine in September and the only work carried out is as afore mentioned. Anyone got any ideas as to what the problem might be ??? :?: :dont know: Cheers PJE

POST 2Original post

will it work with a 'manual assist'? i.e. push it the last few inches as its closing so the lockdown motors engage properly. may need the cables re-aligned/new cables, also check if there is a recall on the lockdown motors- had all mine replaced when they did this on a general saftey recall, no idea if 996 was affected, but same symptoms as my 993, so worth checking with an OPC - see FAQ's on porsche recalls.

POST 3Original post

It may have lost it's 'memory' since September, The 'manual assist' bit might help, as long as you're obviously not using too much effort to make it close the gap Once it's been helped a couple of times to locate properly you may find it does it itself again. HTH

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Guys I worked it about a dozen times and then it closed properly Maybe it had lost it's memory :?: any way is ok now. :bye:
