Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Other than that, agree with AllanR's comments about max fill-ups; can't ever recall filling more than 60L though I have come close.
Leading evidence: 'Fill more than 60l though i have come close' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill more than 60l though i have come close' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

As someone with a 2000 model without the fuel range read-out these small details are important when knowing quite how far to run on the red!

The level sender is "grounded" at this point and subsequent analogue gauge readings are calculated (estimated) using the fuel consumed signal.

So using simple ratios, if a full tank is 62 litres, then I should have about 9.7 litres left when the fuel warning light first comes on at 54 miles.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Although we probably don't need another thread about petrol I did have a query...
If the tank capacity in a 996 C2 is 64 litres how much can you actually get in - does the filler pipe hold another couple of litres?
Also how far do you reckon on driving once the light comes on? Once the light is on my guage seems to very quickly go into free-fall.

Petrol Tank
I have a 2003 Targa and last week managed to get 59.5 litres in.The trip thingy said I had 9 miles left in the tank.So from that I reckon that when the computer says you are out of petrol there is about 3 litres left-always comforting to know.I reckon you would struggle to get more than 62 litres in.When I get a new car I always get to "know"the fuel gauge asap
Also have an '03 Targa. My fuel warning light comes on when the range falls to 54 miles. I don't know how many litres are left in the tank at this point. Other than that, agree with AllanR's comments about max fill-ups; can't ever recall filling more than 60L though I have come close.

Thanks Maxie, at least that will help me with my guessing game about how long i've got left...reckon then on needint to find some juice in 40 miles after the light comes on I "should" be ok.
At the weekend I drove the Cayenne several miles with the range showing as nothing - I was just waiting for it to run out, but cralwed to the petrol station fine.
Welcome
Actually, thinking about it, when I have a full tank, my range shows 343 miles. So using simple ratios, if a full tank is 62 litres, then I should have about 9.7 litres left when the fuel warning light first comes on at 54 miles.

Fuel warning light comes on at 9L (2.4 US gals).
