Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I am trying to compile a list of common lubricating/greasing points to help maintain our cars. This is probably more relavant to those, like me, with the 10 year+ old plus cars where original lube has gone and there are a host of creaks and squeaks. Please share your knowledge in this thread e.g. electric spoiler, hood mechanism etc (pictures would be nice!), and hopefully this can become an FAQ. I will start of with a couple: 1. Hardtop squeak: Polytetrafluroethelene!!! Plumbers use it all the time. PTFE tape carefully applied along the matching surfaces. 2. Door/window seals: I wipe mine down with a damp towel to remove the grime, then once they're dry, I'll slather them up with the thicker silicone grease that comes in a tube. I'll let it sit overnight, and then I'll wipe it down to remove the excess. Another tip is to use I use Zymol seal for rubber
