As far as the 355 goes, it all depends on what you're going to use the car for.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had my name for a new M3, but since i already have a 95 M3 (nice one), i decided to not buy the new M3. instead looked at 97 355 Ferraris, but very hard to find a good one. TOday i ran into this Porsche C4 996 2001 with aerokit, Xenon, Chrome rims, 6cd changer, with 14500 miles, it's at this Exotic car dealer for 69k, but there is room to play (according to the sales guy). It's black on black, imac cond, very clean, Leather like perfect, no dings, scratches. What should i look for other than having the porsche dealership check out the car? Since the car is under warranty, anything i should worry about. What is the common thing that goes out on this year car? Also, i guess since i have a 95 M3, it would be wise to go with the porsche rather than having 2 M3's , same color out/in. I need any advice regarding the porsche & the right price for this car. MSRP for this car according to kbb is 62k, does this mean that's how much i should offer to the dealership. Would i regret this decision or am i on the right track?
I'm sure somebody here will give you some input on the price, and from a variety standpoint alone I'd agree with you that having two similiar BMW M3's wouldn't be that interesting.. but I'm really writing because I'm curious about your F355 search...
Is it really that hard to find a good 355? Generally speaking, what are the problems you're seeing? From the ads I've seen, the 355's in the back of autoweek, etc. seem to be holding their value very well against the F360 and most appear to be low milage examples.
Just curious to know what you've observed from looking at the market reciently... Thanks and all the best in your search for a Porsche.
I purchased a polar silver 2001 C4, no aero, 18" Sport classic rims, PCM, Full leather boxster red interior, advanced technic package, design package, CD changer, etc. (original MSRP $100K) with approx. 7,000 miles for $65K. You will NOT regret this decision . ..
I'd tend to agree on the new M3 decision, as well. The new M3 is a great car, but you already have an M3, unless you were going to trade in the old one, why have both?
As far as the 355 goes, it all depends on what you're going to use the car for. My brother has one, gorgeous car, but if you plan on putting a decent amount of miles on the car, ie not just using it on sunny weekends, stay away, as the cost of maintenance will kill ya.
As far as the 01 C4, the price definitely sounds on the high side. FYI there is an 01 C4 Cab @ luxurymotors.com (no affiliation) with 3k miles for 69k. But if you're looking for a car for all seasons that you can track and/or use as a daily driver, C4 is definitely the way to go.
Best of luck
