I've just renewed the warranty for 2yrs along with disks and pads on my v6d so will be keeping for a bit longer but really want a v8d.

Suggestion

The trick is to use the torque of the engine, use the paddle's to change gear and keep it below 2k RPM, this is just below 90mph..easy to get 37 plus like this on run.

Does anyone know when the V8d Cayenne got ad-blue? I want a facelift Cayenne (2015>) but after a friend borrowed a 2016 demonstrator the other week it is clear the V8d has lost it's mojo. I rode in a pre-facelift V8d when they first came out (2013?) and it sounded like a V8 petrol - amazing! This latest ad-blue V8 sounds very muted, and more similar to my V6d Cayenne. We thought the V8d demonstrator had something wrong with it but after another PH member noted similar experiences with the V8 I'm wondering if I should buy another V6d, or wait for the 2018 Cayenne. Also, we did some side-by-side races on a private runway and the V8 was only marginally quicker* than my V6d!! With another 140hp the V8 *should* be leaving me for dead! I've always sung my praises on the V8d but I'm now a bit underwhelmed. up to 70/80mph not much in it but after 80 the V8 started to pull away Edited by Phooey on Sunday 11th September 09:51

After being in a pre add blue last night I'm taking mine back, there's no comparison.

I bought a V6d 2yrs ago as it was a good spec at a good price but have always hankered after the V8d. Lately I've been looking with a view to swap my V6 for the V8 but after riding in the AdBlue V8 I'm having second thoughts. I'd be interested to hear what your dealer says

It's definitely mid-range and on where the V8 shows it's strength, although not sure it's as quick as the pre-adblue. I have to disagree with only losing 10% of it's 'grumble' - I'd say it's much more. I didn't realise it had gained a cat either

Think the % sound point is subjective. But yes I agree its not as loud. Edited by APOLO1 on Sunday 11th September 19:48

Not sure where I stand if I feed this back to Porsche, I didn't expect it to be so different but I'm also not sure if this is a substantive change to warrant kicking off. I'll be interested in their reply to previous poster. MPG is much better than I expected however, comfortably over 30 so far ( a previous thread suggested around 25 mpg overall). Also, as mentioned, it really needs Sports Chrono. The standard setting reminds me of BMWs efficient-drive setting where you need around 30% throttle to make anything happen and it does feel laggy. ted 191 said: Cars goes in on 30 September, I'll post the outcome. I've just spent the day in a 2016 Adblue v8d whilst my V6d was in for MOT and warranty renewal. I take back my comments re performance being similar to my V6d - this V8d once moving certainly pulls strong. It had 4k miles on it (also said it was due an Adblue refill in 1500miles) and although I still don't think the sound is quite so V8 rumble as the pre-Adblue, it feels noticeably quicker and more urgent. It didn't have Sportschrono so don't know if it would make it any quicker? MPG was approx 20% less than I normally get from my V6d but to be fair i probably was playing with the bit. All in all I really liked it

Just been lent a 2016 Diesel S whilst mine was in for some work. Ad Blue in the back. Performance noticeably duller than my 2013 car. As with all new cars, the subtle styling and interior updates make the previous model look dated, and the electronics are better. The car felt tighter being brand new, but the big chunk of mid range is missing, of which my car has plenty. Didn't notice any economy difference over a couple of days, and I was wringing it's neck most of the time, but the current facelift Ad-Blue diesel has lost some sparkle from the previous V8 diesel. Mine's a keeper, 70K miles now. What would I replace it with ?

POST 20Original post

I am wondering when Volkswagen, Audi and Mercedes Benz started Adblue (DEF) on their diesels. I am looking for an Audi Q7, a Porsche Cayenne or a Volks Toureag pre DEF. What year did they start putting Adblue into their diesels?

POST 21Original post

Our 2012 Q5 has AdBlue, at a time when it seemed a bit random whether or not they got built with it included? Our 2010 Q5 didn't have it.

POST 22Original post

My V8S is July 2015 and doesn't have the AdBlue. It is an amazing machine and when it starts up thats all you need to hear everyday... It was builds after September 2015 that had the change with the addition of the Adblue in the V8's.

POST 23Original post

Is there any visual way of checking if the car is an Adblue car?..... .....from an online ad or, do you have to see it in the flesh? I'm guessing you could get the face lift 2015 car without ad blue!? Iceboy

POST 24Original post

yes adblue came on the 16 cars I think, I have the facelift, late 2014 production ( 2015 model) - - its epic and the engine rumbles like a big yank v8. epic car!

POST 25Original post

Reopening this thread, with 6/7 years of AdBlue knowledge. I am currently buying a June 2016 4.2 V8, with AddBlue. Going back through its MOT history, it failed on one occasion due to AddBlue not working. That required a repair. I understand that the AddBlue can be disabled within the ECU. My question is, are there any disadvantages to this?
