Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suspected cause
There are probably a lot of 996ers who would be willing to pay dearly for a bolt-on 30 more hp.
Leading evidence: 'lot of 996ers who would be willing' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'lot of 996ers who would be willing' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace exhaust alone' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

10hp for changing my oil, 10 more for washing the car, and 50 for doing my dishes.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Dubai dealer told fadz they're getting new sport exhaust that'll increase his C4S power to +30hp, is this possible??
I think he is pulling a quick one..
Waz
uh maybe if you put the gt3 super cup open exhaust one on, but even at that I doubt you will gain that but probably pretty close within 5 hp? Don't flame me! I read that usually mufflers good ones give max like 6-8, and that the real power increases are in the headers and cats or straight pipes. I just saw an add with a dyno graph on a
B&B setup gives like 22hp with their headers and mufflers and the increase was over quite a nice range. (NO AFFILIATION!!) So dunno.
I keep reading that it's hard to get such hp gains with just breathing improvements on the 996, so that figure sounds very optimistic to me. I'm pretty sure that a cat- back sport exhaust wouldn't make 30 more hp, so I assume that it would have to be a complete system from headers on back, bypassing the cat. If it's that much more efficient, softwear reprogramming may be needed as well. There are probably a lot of 996ers who would be willing to pay dearly for a bolt-on 30 more hp.
If Ruf only expects about 10hp max from their exhaust, I can't see how a Gemballa could be any better. IMO, Gemballa is not on the same level as Ruf, as far as Porsche tuners/ manufacturers are concerned.
I mean these claims are so common. 10hp for changing my oil, 10 more for washing the car, and 50 for doing my dishes.
I wouldnt spend any money untill, they provide an independent testing to confirm. Also, most of these gains will result in lossing some low end torque.
I think that it would be lucky to reach 30HP gain with exhaust, header and a good tunned chip, and the one that contributes less to the gain is the exhaust. Even the X-51 Powerkit is only 20HP.
Fadz,
IMO if you care about power and performance sell your C4S Add the 6,000$ you are going to spend on the Gemballa kit and get yourself a decent 996TT. you will pay 6,000$ and you will still be beaten by some Crap Cars with N.O.S.
last time i raced with luminaSS (5.7 liter) on an open highway after 200 the lumina just jumped almost 20 meters far away in front of me !!! and kept passing and going ...
question : WTF ?
answer : its N.O.S. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

On a normally aspirated engine, one would usually gain 1-5 HP @ 6k+ RPM's at the cost of losing some bottom end torque. Unless you are looking to alter the sound of your engine, I wouldn't touch any aftermarket exhaust. For that, I would stick with the factory sport exhaust.
