Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, ive done it and remapped my x50 turbo, it is boosting to 1 bar most times and 1.1bar every now and again! Forge motorsport recirc dump valves to fit tomorrow should make it boost to 1.1 bar most times under full load. All i need doing after this is a mobridge and an exhaust (carnewell gt exhaust i think) fitting!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

engine remap, by eclipse in sunderland, only £300, god value and is working great!

POST 4Original post

I'm not too up on the mchanics of cars, but my standard X50 boosts to 1.1 bar all the time anyway...

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well its either been remapped or it has boost problems, ie dump valve or wastegate! Dump valves cheap and wategates expensive! Is it boosting to 1.1 all the time or in 3rd and 4th gear?

POST 6Original post

did they get the car on a rolling road or did they just upload the map, in any case £300 seems really cheap - let us know how you get on with it.

POST 7Original post

I'm unsure; rarely cane it and when I do, it's only 3rd gear onwards. I presume my car is standard but if I choose to remap it, I'll consider a rolling road first. On the topic of something being not quite right, it's just had a clutch fitted by the well respected Mike at Sports and Classic who gave the car a check over and said the performance was spot on.

POST 8Original post

If your car is running perfectly then it has 100% been remapped. An X50 will boost at 0.8 and a normal turbo will boost around 0.6/7. My X50 is mapped and it boosts to 1bar. Graham

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Mine is the same like, but was boosting to 1.1bar when i was having problems with the dump valve and the turbo wastegates. All sorted now and it is running sweet thanks to RSJ's warranty fixing everything that was wrong!

POST 10Original post

Strange... I do presume my car is unmapped. The boost comes in late(ish) around 4K RPM and, having had a few remapped cars before, it just doesn't behave as I'd expect if it was mapped. When I had my clutch fitted by Mike at S&C last week, he did remark that one of my wastegates was sticking open. He said he had open/closed it a load of times and loosen it and hence suggestions on here regarding wastegates and DVs resonated... I am not necessarily worried as the car feels spot on but I am just generally wondering. It's my first 911 but Mike has obviously driven loads of Porkers and complimented the car. I've just had to nip out on an errand with the Mrs and baby in tow and took a junction of motorway home. It was wet and rather busy so I went steady and then gave it some in the higher gears. Of course, whilst having my eyes more on the road, I saw 1.0 to 1.1 bar. However just before letting off in what I think was 4th gear, I did see 1.3 I have a vid of my car accelerating (poorly taken on my iPhone a few months back) and have just noticed that just ad I've pressed stop, it said 1.4. I was wondering if anyone wanted to see it if I uploaded it to Facebook or whatever. I'd be interested to know what it looks like speed-wise. I am also going to book it on a rolling road. I'd eventually opt for a remap but won't waste my money if it's already been fettled.

POST 11Original post

Ps sorry for (a) the thread hijack and (b) the poor English; I'm typing this on my phone.

POST 12Original post

If your car is hitting 1.4 then you really should get it looked at. Thats some spike.

POST 13Original post

I don't usually drive it fast. I'll get it out over Easter and see what's what and report back. I'm a worrier normally; even the smallest of noises and I'm stressed all week but I am sure all is ok.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The wastegate sounds like it is stuck open, also this is normally caused by a dump valve not working! Should never over boost that high, take it to get looked at, does it have a warranty?

POST 15Original post

A stock X50 boosts 0.8 to 0.9bar. If you're seeing 1bar+ regular then either the car is remapped and/or you have a sticking wastegate.... as Mike has already id'd the latter I'd start by looking at that. Forge DV's won't really offer any real performance gain unless your stock DV's are not working 100%... most people, incl me, fitted them to improve reliability as the stock Bosch DV's are known to fail. If your car is remapped I would want to know who did the work... if you don't know, its worth getting the file written over and starting again so you know what your dealing with. At the very least if you don't want to do this get your logs downloaded via durametric so you can see what that file is doing.
