Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Great report Alex. I'd just like to point out that at no time was I on the track at the same time as the Elise. DAZ

POST 2Original post

Daz- I know its not you, it was the other 996 that was having problems blitzing the Elise. Anyway if if had have been you I know I wouldnt have had any trouble talking you into our 650bhp conversion that you just know you are gagging to go for... I know the 996s high speeds have tempted the 993 Turbo S guy to go & chat to 9M for a 530bhp kit...

POST 4Original post

Was the timing gear calibrated? All speeds seem a little lower than I would have expected? On that Jezza C vid where he does the standing mile I am sure that the 993turbo 4 and Cerby 4.2 get 160mph+ without a rolling start?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm sure it was calibrated. I can't understand how they got to 160 in a a mile though ? ?

POST 6Original post

I could be mistaken as I have not watched it for a few years!! I am sure it was 170 or so for the Cerby after a standing mile? Anyone got the vid to check as mine has gone awol!

POST 7Original post

Folks, a couple of questions? How much did the day cost? Do you allow bikes? When's the next one? Edited to say Oops, that's 3 questions! >> Edited by danhay on Monday 17th February 13:54

POST 8Original post

Nice writeup, thanks! Couple of points for clarification - Porsche Club GB not involved in any way, in order to keep the cost down etc. Lot of muttering and gnashing of teeth from Moreton-in Marsh, in fact. Speed traps were simple beam-breaking at a calibrated distance apart, and accurate. I parked up there for a while, saw Craig come through @ 155 on his best run - those timing guys are braver (or something) than I ! There was a headwind all day at least 5 mph. Interestingly, I did a few laps at the end, temperature was dropping, and I got a definite 5mph higher indicated. Maybe we could run the other way from a standing start out in the boonies .. Costs were £100 per car, a couple of late entries saw us into profit, which I will distribute to two intended participants who separately had to drop out because of sudden serious illness of parents. Bikes regularly run at BPG, timed by same crew - don't think it would be a good mix, tho'. Next one - we'll see, but I promise it would be warmer, although that chilly sun was ideal, really! Cheers, Maurice

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

sorry if I scared you Maurice, I would have steered further away from you but I had my eyes shut

POST 10Original post

Just out of interest chaps...how did your speedo readings compare to the speed measured by the officials?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

0mph on speedo, 155 measured ..but thats Italian cars for you.

POST 13Original post

Hi Alex, great write-up. Also Titanic site is super. Yes I was the little Lime Green Roller Scate (Elise). Totally out-guned on the straight but in the after noon I was as you say holding serious horse power off with my 1.8 Pot (125 horses). If it wasn't for the 100 yards+ I was loosing on the main staight I rekon it would have been similar lap times. No worries, great day and some serious fun. Thanks to all! Now were do I get a 400 hp up grade?

POST 14Original post

That's pretty accurate Daz. I wonder what 190mph on my Blackbird is in real life? Got to be at least 173mph allowing for 10% over-read.

POST 15Original post

Well your all lucky I did not break out the old boxster, Then you would have seen who was boss. ( climbs back into his own little planet with twitches happily). Alright, well at least give me the Elise for god's sake, I could have taken that.....hmmm?(huff)

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

and bloody good fun it was too!
