I use 1/4-turn Dzus fasteners to attach it so I can easily replace or swap between it and the stock winglets for street use.

I can say his old splitter was beautifully made and fit perfectly - much better than the race splitters I use now (but they're cheaper).

Suggestion

I do recommend the center portion of the splitter be attached to the bottom of the bumper with well nuts and fasteners which are supplied.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

New Cayman 987.1 splitter. It was time to design something abit more street friendly for the Cayman. This new version is a sectionalsplitter as I have now done for the 996TT, 987.1 Boxster and the 996 GT3. Thethree sections of the splitter bolt together leaving only a slight jointvisible. Additionally if a portion of the splitter does get damaged only that sectionneeds to be replaced thus reducing cost for new splitter. Shipping costs for these sectional splitters are greatlyreduced. I can ship this new part in the continental U.S. for 25 dollars and toEurope for 65USD whereas the original one piece splitters are in the 300 range. At factory ride height there is 5” ground clearance on this splitter and it doesnot protrude forward as much as the original one piece splitter. Initial introductory price on this new splitter is 300USDplus shipping. With enough interest in the next days I am willing to offer agroup buy. 10 people sign up 10% discount, 20 people sign up and additional 10%discount. That works out to 243USD plus shipping. The attached pictures are with the splitter installed on abumper I purchased off a totalled car. It’s a bit rough, please imagine howgood the splitter would look on a nice bumper/car. Let me know what you all think of my latestcreation.

POST 2Original post

5" of ground clearance at stock ride height, but how much lower does this splitter sit than the front bumper? I'm running about a 2.5" drop up front and this might be sitting on the ground...

POST 3Original post

"imagine how it would look on a nice bumper/car"...we'll that's pretty much impossible as scale cannot be visualized with no car mount and a beat up front end that's on the ground!?! You could have a worse presentation...maybe? I'm here to help. Send a black unit over for my 987.2 and I'll hook you up with pictures that Porsche owners can relate to.

POST 4Original post

Some more details please? How does it attach? Stock fasteners? What is is made with, flexible like a bumper or fiberglass? It looks a bit rough at the seem and what I assume to be a body line? Is this a prototype? Please don’t get me wrong, I like it. Just want to make sure I am satisfied to get on the group buy.

POST 6Original post

Yeah, hard to imagine what it looks like on a complete car. There’s just not enough info and pictures of it installed on a complete car to make a $250 decision. Pass for now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

POST 7Original post

I had Joe's 1-piece splitter on my '07 Cayman , which is primarily a track car, but I obliterated it during an off-track excursion. My car is about 1" lower than stock, stiffly sprung, and the splitter left only about 2 or 2-1/2" of ground clearance. Fine for track, but can't even get out of my driveway. I can say his old splitter was beautifully made and fit perfectly - much better than the race splitters I use now (but they're cheaper). I use 1/4-turn Dzus fasteners to attach it so I can easily replace or swap between it and the stock winglets for street use. If you can live with the 2 seams for this sectional version, its probably a great piece for the price, and the higher ground clearance would make it OK for the street.

POST 9Original post

The pieces look nicely made, but it would be helpful if you could share photos of how they are fasted together and to the car. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

POST 10Original post

Looks good. What is the material? How does it attach? I am interested.

POST 11Original post

Hi Joe, Love your products, i love my front spoiler, Vic

POST 12Original post

I think the new splitter looks nice. Not sure how this works but please put me down for the group buy. Thanks.

POST 13Original post

To try and answer a couple of questions. The splitter is black gel coat and fiberglass. For the most part it attaches in the factory location after removing the plastic factory corner pieces from the bumper. The three sections of the splitter are screwed together. I do recommend the center portion of the splitter be attached to the bottom of the bumper with well nuts and fasteners which are supplied. My one piece splitter never has had an issue the with the center portion not being secured to the bumper. I want a bit more security to go along with the fasteners holding the sections of splitter together. I have reached 20 people committed so the price is 243 plus 25 shipping. Group buy ends New Years eve. Jan 1st price is 375 plus shipping. No it doesn't fit .2 cars. Sorry I couldn't find a car for better pictures soon enough.

Hi Joe just sent you a text message to please add me to the list. Thank you.

POST 17Original post

please put me down for 1 - I've been looking for something like this for a long time ! sorry as I haven't read the whole thread -- when would the group buy close/ship? very cool! -PM.

POST 18Original post

Wanted to share pictures of the new sectional splitter installed on cars. Some folks were less than impressed with my lousy photos of the original piece with the bumper on the floor. Hope you like these better from customer cars. These are available as well as the rest of my products.

POST 19Original post

Just wanted to show some Joe Toth love! Finally finished my engine swap and got my car out on the track. I used to have his 1pc but it became a victim to the terrible roads here in Cali. Compared to the old splitter, this one felt no different on track. I had no obvious additional understeer and i feel that although it's less aggressive than the 1pc, the difference in effect for most would be negligible. Here she is with Joe's 3pc splitter! (Pay no mind to the budget #s, i lost my magnetic ones)

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
