I heard that PCGB actually promote the use of R-compound tyres.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Thin end of the wedge, eh, Johnny? Well, thank goodness 'they' veto'd track day licences. For goodness sake, a track day is supposed to be for fun!! Melv

I heard that PCGB actually promote the use of R-compound tyres. So hopefully, you guys don't have anything to worry about.

POST 3Original post

I don't really know the whys and where fors in this, I've only done one day... But, you say it the 'beginners' that crash, well everyone was a beginner once! By lowering corner speeds what it may do is lessen the intimination factor for 'beginners'. As a newby I had no probs dealing with overtaking on the straights but I was not happy when being tailgated through corners at fairly high speeds. If corner speeds are lowered it may reduce this, or at least reduce the need to tailgate. There is probably a broader argument about grouping experienced and non-experenced drivers better, in the end I guess it is about respect for others and the ability of others. In the end, as has been said, it is about fun. if cars are flying round circuits significantly faster than others on the same circuit something has to give. Twit

Hi chaps, I'm the owner of an E30 M3 Sport Evo, but I'm interested in Porsches too, so I sometimes post here. BMW Car Club are banning Formula R / sticky tyres from its track days. There's a big debate going on now about whether or not this is a good idea. The organisers think the lower cornering speeds will increase safety. They suggest we use knackered bald road tyres instead. I know which I think is safer. Also, it's the beginners who crash at our track days, not the experienced fellas on sticky tyres. I mention all this on here because I think that other clubs may follow suit. PCGB next? You boys better get ready.
