Anyone have these installed and know the weight savings by any chance. I'm going to call GMG racing but just curoius if anyone here has experience with this already. Ot replacing any exterior parts (hood etc) with lighter weight subs. Would like to get weight down but don't feel like trashing my interior or hooking up a charger to a race battery all the time.
thanks
Cargraphic Lightweight and Carbon Fiber

Cargraphic introduces new lightweight fiberglass and carbon fiber doors for the
Porsche Cayman
. Doors use OE window regulator mechanisms and include side bar protection. Weights range from 3.2kg to 7.5kg depending upon configuration.
Installation and paint available at our facility, please inquire.
Please contact us for pricing.
Called the distributor. Costs about $1800 per side. Weigh in at about 10lbs per side. Said OEM is about 60lbs per side. These weight comparisons are for the "skin" of the door. They are compatible with the elctrical system etc. Said prob about $700 install fee total.
So bottom line save maybe 100lbs. But prob (or likely) give up some safety. All this for $4300. Not for me but maybe some racers out there care.
That race battery for $70 that saves 30lbs is looking better....or strip out some carpet!
unless you have full cage, dont get carbon doors. i know cargraphic's got protection beam in their doors (they have three versions of carbon doors) but i dont think shaving a few seconds off (if that much) is worth risking your life for it.
i looked at those seriously before, including the factory 997cup car doors as well. then i thought i rather live a few years longer than shaving off fractions of a second per lap.
really, not a good idea.
agree. best not to mess with the armour.
I agree with Mooty and Bob. Put in the doors.....put in a full cage...period. Modifying your car in a very unsafe manner for amatuer track events would be irresponsible. None of the sanctioning body's or racing organizations would allow such a modification without the proper cage being installed. This could not only threaten your safety but the safety of every one else on the track.
Thank you for listening to my soap box speech.
Cheers and safe driving to all,
