Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I understand they use 997 3.8 unit with s/c, right?
Leading evidence: 'Use 997 3.8 unit' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use 997 3.8 unit' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Very pretty. Ruf has a reputation for a reason and a price to match. The Ruf mods took some time to come to market which shows in the installation. Not something I would do, but if you are going to tinker with a new
Porsche
it seems to me that the parts and installation should be extremely well engineered so that the results are OEM quality.
Ruf does have a great reputation, however, the only reason it is priced this high is to protect their other products.
No way can a vendor reasonably justify the value of a bolt-on mod that costs half a CS.
Wildly guessing but compression will run at 6-7+psi which will yield a 40% to 50% increase in hp for a range of 410-440 hp at the crank. Exhaust, chip (custom tuning), intake MAY add 30 more on top of that. Higher boost will potentially compromise longevity of engine. It is possible that higher psi could be attained but only by adding a gasket to reduce engine compression...
Power is all about airflow...

I believe the $35K price is turnkey. You bring them your
Cayman
with less than 25K miles and for $35K you drive away with a new Ruf Kompressor with warranty. Higher miles on the engine and they insist on a some degree of tear down to make sure the engine won't explode after the install.
Workmanship looks first class as always.
I would also be interested to hear the numbers and warranty details. I would expect quite a bit in return for 35K. Probably around the 100hp mark.
I would do the 3.8 conv. way before I would supercharge.
I had a s/c on my G35 coupe and I'm done with FI. It was fun and the power was great. I just got tired of waiting for something to break.
I sure as hell wouldn't want that s/c whine at my back.
Sorry, my $0.02.
I spoke with Mark Plummer of RUF Auto Centre in Dallas last week about this car. In our telephone conversation he told me they had just finished an engine modification on a customer's
Cayman S
. It was their first modification of a
Cayman S
. I can only assume it's the above car of which Mark Plummer was talking.
Mark told me they put a supercharger (kompressor) on this 3.4L
Cayman S
engine and that the engine produces AT LEAST 450 HP. Knowing RUF, one couldn't expect anything less. Here's to the lucky customer.
The April 2006 issue of GT Purely
Porsche
has an article on the RUF R Kompressor. In the story RUF bolted their supercharger (kompressor) onto the 3.8-litre 997
Carrera
S engine. The numbers there: Horsepower went from 355hp to 435hp and torque from 295lb ft to 347lb ft. Of note, the article states, "Interestingly the R Kompressor exhibits
none of the supercharger whine
you might expect of such a configuration, leaving the six-cylinder's growling bassline and redline falsetto well intact. Like the standard 997 it's a setup that strikes a good compromise between spine-tingling aural assault when you want it and acceptable refinement when you don't."
Simply can't wait to somebody to record the performance Figs, i love to know them. If the DSG box can take that much BHP when it comes......what a car!
Mega!
Not too worry. My wife and I drove our 3400 K (#001) 1000+ miles from Pfaffenhausen to Barcelona in October and the supercharger drive is very quiet. In the high mid-range you do get a hint of the sound of a lot of air going somewhere fast but it's not annoying at all. I am happy to report that I am expecting delivery in the US in early April. The ship is currently in the Atlantic on the way.
i saw the sony car at cars and coffee. i had a chance to talk to the guy about the clear cover and found out its a pain in the @$$. it never stays clean
Since I'm over from the GM side I thought I would look up some info on the superchargers for the C6. Check out this link

. These guys are top notch and check out the warrenty 3/36 for less than $12k installed!
RUF is charging over twice what they should. If they were more reasonalble they would sell more products. Maybe want to be soooo "exclusive" :2cents:
