Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have these cool (in my twisted opinion) carbon fiber inserts for my side mirrors. I have a CF wing on the way and CF door sills. Thinking about black fog lamp spikes and side intakes to complete the accenting of the car. Anyway, what are your opinions regarding using contact cement versus double sided industrial sticky tape? I am concerned that the tape- although pretty thin- is still too thick. Any thoughts? Bottom line: I am attaching CF to a painted surface. Here is a PS mockup of the end result.

POST 2Original post

Here is another Photoshop job...this time a CF GT3 grill. Color and size/angle are a bit off...but I think I might like this with the wing and mirror accents to match. Debadged with "GT" on the rear deck.

POST 3Original post

go to an automobile paint supplier i am sure they have a special glue for your needs that is what the manufacuers might use i personaly like rtv it adhears to uneven surfaces and disimilar materials the parts you glue can also be taken off rtv is silicone

POST 5Original post

Many manufacturers use double-sided tape (good stuff from 3M) to adhere various spoilers, badges and side skirts to painted bodywork... I wouldn't use a solvent-based glue on my paint. Of course, I wouldn't put all this crap on my car to begin with... but to each their own.
