Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I recently installed both AWE exhaust and porsche short shifter and have to say I am extremely happy with both.
Leading evidence: 'Install awe exhaust and porsche short shifter and have' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'torque biasing differential' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install awe exhaust and porsche short shifter and have' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I would start by asking yourself what you want to change about your car.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If you could only make one (excluding a turbo or 3.8L upgrade) modification to your CS for improved performance what would it be and what (ballpark) would it cost? I've searched the mods forum but didn't find the just one question answered.
Columbus,
I'll assume you meant performance mod.
I would start by asking yourself what you want to change about your car. I have listened to a few aftrmarket exhausts and love the sound. Maybe you like your current exhausts pitch. So for me a catback exhaust (appx. $1,300 - $1,900) would be my first choice. I am anxious to see and hear how these PSS9s do too.
Dave
PS If you didn't mean performance mod then I agree with a clear bra.
Yes...just performance mods. I have been told that all Porsches need front end paint work after a couple of years regardless of how you try to cover them. Having said that, I do plan to put painters tape on the front and areas near the wheel wells for my track days.
If I could get a no-drone system that sounded as good as the Corsa on my C4 vette, it would be that. From what I hear there are no such animals available to us.
Barring that, you must understand I AX, so I would pick a front camber plate mod. You can do this yourself to your own stock plates, so this invaluable racing aid is $0! It nets you -2 degrees front camber.
After that, I would pick the LSD that suits you. If you put in a quiafe yourself, this is $1400 or so.
After that I would pick a harness system.
After that the short shifter. DIY and it's $450 or so.
Do you care about fuel economy? If not then wild timing lightweight cams would be no the top of my list. Range of $1,000-2k not including install. You would gain power & phenominal sound.
You need some tuning to get those cams working. That's an additional cost, but once you get into engine internals, reliability and most importantly drivability becomes an issue.
The main omission in the CS is an LSD/TBD. Accordingly, the first major mod I have planned is the Quaife ATB, though I do currently have the OEM short shifter and the Evo V-Flo intake prioritized ahead of it (much less expensive and I'm comfortable doing the labor myself).
I keep seeing short shifter popping up in this forum. In other forums for my past cars, I always and only saw warnings about short shifters and how you'd hate it and be missing gear shifts if you did it. Then my brother put one in his GTO and it truly is terrible. Maybe he got a really bad/cheap on but it's sloppy, loose feeling and give you no feel of where you actually are gear wise. I take it the Porsche version is much better (and different then other cars)?
This is a mod I would have never given the slightest thought to.
...the Porsche short shifter does come with one warning: It is notchy when it is cold...I have also heard others in the forum mention tougher on downshifts - but for the most part anyone who has done one loved it!
I, for one, have no problem with the stock one even though it is rather long.
What's wrong with the stock pads? They're fine for street or track (especially if you don't have any other mods).
Columbus, have you done any HPDE's? If not, then the best "mod" you can do is get some on-track training.
Today I concluded that :
Short shifter is "notchy" when not-warmed-up rather than "cold". Its May in the middle east, im 400 meters from the beach. Its not cold in the mornings, about 30 C or 85 Fahrenheit and 44 C in the afternoons (having parked my car for oever 8 hours) which is about 107 Fahrenheit and the shorter is a little "stiff" when starting up after the 8 hours.
Good to have owners from warmer countries huh?
At first I thought I would not face the phenomena of stiff shifting because our country is not cold, but after having owned the car for about 1.5 months now it is still stiff.
I recently installed both AWE exhaust and porsche short shifter and have to say I am extremely happy with both. But if I could only choose one, I'd go with the exhaust.
i love my short shifter. i actually called the service department of my dealer to get a quote on an exhaust mod. they first question was 'have you had the shifter done?' followed by 'that is the single best mod you can do for the car'...
i haven't driven it with a stock shifter, but i'm very happy with mine. i'll let you know if i feel any differently after having the exhaust done - although it might be a tough sell to my girlfriend... she claims i don't need it (which is probably fair given i already received 2 tickets since getting the car)
I would invest in a Porsche Performance Course. The skills you learn will make you a better and safer driver that can extract more out of the stock CS than any 5-10hp mod could ever hope to achieve. It will also allow you to enjoy the CS more every time you drive it.
It's a bit expensive here in the UK but well worth it, in my opinion. A great performance upgrade that you can use on every car you drive in the future!
I've only had my CS for a couple of months but if I had it to do over again, I would drive straight from the dealer to somewhere to have the clear shield put on. I just can't fathom how much damage I already have to the front of my car.
Well the first mods question goes to JCopeland. He did the Desnork and free exhaust mods in 38 minutes flat last night on my CS . The exhaust note sounds deeper and slightly louder but not out of control. Many thanks John! I would highly recommend any members within reach of Central Ohio to PM JCopeland for info.
the car is fine as is.
spend 10,000 to buy you 20 days on track. you will be faster than 90% of the caymans out there, no matter how much mods they got.
and you WILL have more fun than they do.
