the 6 pots on the PCCB are amazing, and if you want to fit steel disks its easy as you have the yellow 6 pot calipers, PCCB is a massive selling point even for people who don't want to run ceramic disks.

Should have ticked the no cost option box for stereo IMO. A little expensive price wise considering you could have a brand new 981 Spyder for £10k more!

POST 3Original post

Blimey, thats 10k more expensive than the one Paragon sold just before Christmas, and they're not known for their bargain prices either.

This one has all the most desirable options that people want - Spyder wheels, manual, carbon buckets, PCCBs, PSE, short shifter and doesn't have any unnecessary weight added back in. Got to make sure you compare specs on these cars to judge the price.

POST 10Original post

I think if the 981 Spyder had not come up this year then this car would have be sold by now. Personally as an owner of a Spyder, I seriously think the cars are worth the money that people are asking for them. Just consider myself lucky that I bought at the near the bottom of the market As it is reasonably close to the current price of the new Spyder is will put a lot of people off. However the simple facts are that if your names not down for a 981 Spyder, your not getting one. Therefore you either wait for for someone to sell a 981 Spyder (probably at a greater premium than new, possibly +£5-10k) or get a 987 and enjoy the car. Reckon their will come a time when the 987 exceed the 981 prices due to their driver feel (i.e. shorter wheel base and no electronic nuances to dilute the experience - exactly why a test drive in a 981 fell way shorts for me). However I think that this will be about 5 years off. Waiting for the Evo back to back comparison with much anticipation George Edited by douglasgdmw on Thursday 23 April 23:43 Edited by douglasgdmw on Thursday 23 April 23:44

It's one of the true gems of recent times, and I think it's starting to be recognised as such. Get one like that, and I'm not sure you can get much better. No sports chrono though! The sport button makes a massive difference when you fancy a spirited drive, pretty much like a cable throttle in terms of responsiveness. The radio although not a harmon kardon or Bose isn't that bad. Just have to keep the loudness mode off. When presetting a radio station however, the confirmation beep is so loud it goes straight through you!

With 15 991 gt3 for sale at opc alone and not selling and only one spyder then surely a low mileage nice spec. Spyder for a third even a quarter of the price looks bloody good value!

POST 32Original post

Apples and pears......cannot compare the Syder and 991 GT3......clearly totally different cars in totally different price categories. 15 cars is c only 7 percent of UK stock and only a handful are the 'right' spec and mileage. 991 GT3 is cheap relative to its proven nearest rival.....the Speciale, at over twice the list price new.

I have had the good fortune to drive this car around Silverstone and can report it is a fantastic drive, a really focused sports car. Wonderful poise and balance, plenty of performance and lovely soundtrack. It's a low numbers modern classic so relative to price of something else the ticks those boxes (esp a Porsche) I think they are worth the money IMO. B

After running a 458 Italia it is not just me who found it nowhere near as involving as a 991 GT3. And at say £160k the car will be twice as old. Hugely more expensive depreciation wise as well.....which can take the shine off F ownership very rapidly. Nice car though. If you read all the 'quality' tests between the GT3 and Speciale, most conclude they were very evenly matched....mind you, the GT3 has always tended to bat well above its weight as you know full well. Quite remarkable for a car costing half as much to be pitched against the mighty F in the first place. Be interesting to see what the RS can do to the F.....could well be a forgone conclusion...... The GT4 and Turbo S are great cars but apples and pears to the GT3. If you think a 991 GT3 sits at £120k you would be outbid by £25k immediately......and that's by the trade!!!!

You also think a GT4 will take £25k over list ! I'll sell my slot tomorrow for £25k and let buyer choose spec. That would fund 2 years 458 use. I am not sue how much down the line a normal 458 is over the speciale , as I have only driven the latter. But I,ll take the risk for £25k overs :-)

A Speciale is more the car to go head to head vs a 991 RS. And I would still take the Ferrari. Or buy a GT4 for £70k and put £90k off your mortgage. Or get a 997.2 turbo S with the £90k and still have change ! People are a bet screwed in the head to think some of these values are great value ! I don't see any more worth than £120k for a 991 GT3 but that's only imo. I agree, but what's a mortgage? That thing us peasants pay

PorscheGT4 said: You also think a GT4 will take £25k over list ! I'll sell my slot tomorrow for £25k and let buyer choose spec. That would fund 2 years 458 use. I am not sue how much down the line a normal 458 is over the speciale , as I have only driven the latter. But I,ll take the risk for £25k overs :-) Just wait for the first OPC car to appear. Seems bizarre that as a self confessed 'old school luddite beard' you openly knock the 991 GT3 yet clamour for the even more digital and tech heavy 458 which is widely regarded as having less grip, poorer turn in, gearbox and steering, synthetic exhaust noise etc etc. Maybe its the delusions of grandeur offered by the Ferrari club that appeals......

One has to have owned a Ferrari, just liked every F1 driver wants to drive for Ferrari. as for it has poorer every thing, I am not so sure on that one esp steering and turn in. I have only driven it for about 20 miles but I was quite amazed by it, where I think the 991 is a bit meh, but then 1st impressions don't count for that much. to quote evo "I really wish the steering wasn’t quite so immediate, as it turns the nose in so hard you feel the tail get a little edgy in an effort to keep up." and watching the 5th gear vid with harris , only one car to own in my eyes every single review of the 458, be it Tiff, Harris or any one else has smiles ear to ear in the 458.

If that is of no perceived value (it isn't to me) then you would only consider it if it was the best in class by whatever other criteria you choose. The same is true of any brand.

PorscheGT4 said: 458 does also seem best in class. I haven't driven one - but, from what I have read, might accept that as a working hypothesis - but I don't regard a manual gearbox as fundamental to my driving enjoyment. On the other hand you have nailed your colours to the mast regarding auto boxes. So you, if you are consistent, must surely discount it on gearbox grounds alone.

Joy of owning 3 or 4 cars not all have to be manual. Just the one I just to hone my skilled and find interesting to play with at weekends. I would not be dull and have 100% automatics like some.
