Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What's the "trick" to closing the front hood???? In order to latch the hood I find that I have to practically sit on it...........no matter how hard I try I am unable to close it all the way by merely using some pressure with my hand. Incidentally, I was told NOT to place my hand on the
Porsche
Shield, but directly over the latch. Seriously, has anyone else had this problem?

Just read the posted link, was told by couple sales guy's to "palm the Badge" I usually press firmly but gentle enough to make it latch, never had any issues, may try putting pressure just under it now, little closer to where the lock actually is as stated in the manual.......
Looks at the where the latch is. You should palm the area right above the latch. Palming the emblem will in time result in a warped emblem that lifts away from the hood around it's edges.
I have corrected the misspelling in the title of this thread.
Is the leading edge of the hood somewhat lower than the trailing edge of the front bumper where they meet? I think they should be almost even, but with the leading edge of the hood being just a hair lower. Even 1/16" lower might be too low for easy latching.
On my previous
911s
the latch opposite the front hood catch bar was adjustable vertically. If the
Caymans
still operate similarly, you'll need a tool to loosen the latch and move it up a bit. It's easy to move it up a bit too much, so be careful.
This was how the service guy demonstrated to me on how to latch the hood : drop the hood at about 6 inches high, and nudge the hood down at the badge with the palm. Before this, I adopted the approach of Gator Bite and had your problem.
Don't want to nit pick, but as the badge is made of steel and the hood aluminum, it is best to push the hood closed, after a drop from 6 inches, just below the badge. Yes I am a metallurgist.

Don't want to nit pick, but as the badge is made of steel and the hood aluminum, it is best to first drop the hood from 6 inches or so to engage the latch and then to push the hood closed just below the badge. Steel has a higher yield point than Al and eventually the hood will deform slightly from repeated closings.

This really isn't complicated.
Just lower the hood all the way to where it sits. The apply palm pressure directly above the latch, which is the area just forward of the badge. And it closes correctly.
If that doesn't work for you, then something is wrong with the latch assembly or hood alignment, and some adjustment or repair is required.
I never found closing the hood to be a problem, I just press under the badge and it latches. If you "literally" need to sit on it to close it, I'd have it checked as fmarshal said!
+1 I usually use a couple fingers and it latches. Couldn't be easier.
Have it checked out, sounds like you definitely have something off-kilter.
Good Luck.
