Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I pulled the door handle inside the door and normally the window goes down slightly however all I heard was a loud crack! Now the window won't go up or down but I can hear the elctric motor running when I do try and put the window up/down. Any ideas what has happened and if it would be covered by the warranty? Cheers, Steven.

POST 2Original post

I'm sure it'll be covered by warranty. Just take it to your dealership.. If there was a cracking sound inside your door, it probably isn't electrical and it may be part of the mechanism connecting the window to the motor that broke, possibly one of the gears. If you're curious as to how power windows on cars work, here's an article .

POST 3Original post

Cheers, took it to the dealer and it looks like the window regulator cable has snapped. Booked in for next week, 3 hour job apparantly and covered by warranty.

POST 4Original post

A good outcome, 3 hour job...well I can't really judge cos I haven't worked on one myself, but it does seem quite long.
