Not sure if Porsce are using a different brake pad compound on this car ?

was hoping someone else on here who has one would let me know if this is just there thing, or if someone know if they use a different compound on the Dakar?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Though if you have PCCB’s, you’ll need to use Sensodyne or Colgate Sensitive Pro Relief, both however take time to work, and you’ll need to apply it after every drive or at the very minimum, morning and night.
If the squealing is really bad, use Colgate Sensitive Instant Relief.

Apply a line of toothpaste from the inner edge to outer edge. The paste will reduce the vibration which causes the squealing.
Colgate or sensodyne ?
It's the sand in them ... a good jet-wash should do it. Or ask your sales person ?
They are bound to be able to find the answer ...
(Can you imagine sand in carbon discs ??)

Forget toothpaste, just apply a little oil* or fairy liquid to the disc surfaces, an excellent means of stopping squeaks.
* yes obviously not serious…
Just to clarify
Oil - not serious
Fairy Liquid - not commented upon...
I guess Fairy Liquid keeps your hands nice and soft too....

A lot of you don't seem to be taking this seriously, we're desperately trying to get to the root of the problem for the OP here.
And to crown it all, some of your are suggesting using oil ...
At 1200 miles I'm guessing you've been driving it gently whilst running it in ?
If so, the pads will most likely have glazed slightly, so try some heavi
er
braking from higher speeds, I'd do 4-5 stops from 70-80mph down to 20-30 and see if that stops the squeal.

Yes and have had a 992 4s and Turbo s (with ceramics) and never had an issue. Not sure if Porsce are using a different brake pad compound on this car ?

Ah you see.... you thought I was joking, then again it did occur to me that an owner of a Dakar probably doesn't need to consider life-hack solutions of toothpaste to cure brake squeal.
Have never heard the toothpaste thing, but have already stripped the brakes and applied anti seize to the pad backing with limited success. was hoping someone else on here who has one would let me know if this is just there thing, or if someone know if they use a different compound on the Dakar?
Hi folks,
Apologies for hijacking this post, I don't seem to have the "start a new thread" button on my profile.
I wanted to ask, as I've been offered a Dakar build slot in December, what are folks honest opinion of the car, apart from the brakes issue of course?
Many thanks,
C.
500 miles done with solid driving , LOTS of rear drifting in rally mode
no brake squealing .....yet!!
car looks so much better in the flesh,
exhaust note matchs the mood of the car.
after several visits to the Porsche driving center to understand how control and induce loss of traction , the Dakar comes into its own as to the antics we can do.
it does not have the urgency as other 911s, but Porsche have put in a Rally mode which allow the back to controllably drift and offer a grin inducing ride
the most fun 911 i have owned
Got mine hoping the next quick step would be to an rs but genuinely love it now! Will be happy and disappointed if I get a call from the dealer offering an rs. Came out of a turbo s to this and it lacks the straight line pace but is more fun on the road at non jail time speeds! And the suspension is very well suited to our roads!
