Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

Could anyone out there weigh in on this bit of weirdness...btw I have cleared these fault codes and though I have only run the engine for 10 minutes or so, they have not returned...perhaps I could remove the gas cap and see if I get a legitimate p code...lol.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

New guy here...1st. post..greetings all. This is part comment and part query. 987.2 box s/my 10/27,000 miles. Summer vehicle only May-Oct. and stored in an unheated garage. So middle of March, moved vehicle 100 feet or so into heated garage to do some maint. serpentine belt...new rotors and pads etc. Work done..moved vehicle back to outside unheated garage and just as I was backing in, I got the "check engine visit workshop" message on the instrument cluster. I had always intended to purchase the Durametric enthusiasts package and this was the excuse I needed to finally do it. Soooo after connecting and reading fault codes, this is what I get: (1) 7401-lambda control adaption bank 2- system too lean- upper limit value exceeded. (2) 7101-lambda control adaption bank 1- system too lean- upper limit value exceeded. (3) 2716-lost communication with brake system control module....implausible signal. The 987.2 boxster and cayman post 2009 dfi engines do not have motronic dme /ecu's...they have a seimens sdi3 ecu. It's surprising how little info is out there on this new ecu...believe me I have tried. Comments over...now query time. I was under the impression that basis emission ie obd codes were always proceeded by a P and in fact even vehicle specific codes are as well....could this new siemens ecu have a different numbering system...doubthfull !! Could anyone out there weigh in on this bit of weirdness...btw I have cleared these fault codes and though I have only run the engine for 10 minutes or so, they have not returned...perhaps I could remove the gas cap and see if I get a legitimate p code...lol.

POST 2Original post

When possible you might try driving the car as idling may not satisfy the ECU software to see if the codes stay off. My guess is that the move from your garage left the ECU software midway through some initialization routine. Good luck.

POST 3Original post

agree 100% rob and I have read numerous posts here and elsewhere on issues like this on vehicles in storage or not being driven for a few weeks and then throwing CEL's. Just from looking at the rather nebulous descriptions...ie adaption and from both banks as well leads one to believe that this particular CEL could possible be driven away in a few hrs......problem is, there is still snow on the driveway and I'm the impatient type and just wanted to get on with it. I am hoping that others will chime in on those unusual codes ie no P and some weird numbers as well...cheers rob.
