Suggestion

If 'all' of tabs are indeed broken my suggestion (keeping it on the cheap) would be to remove and clean the mounting area for the center cover, then carefully use a silicone based sealer to 'glue' the cover from the inside...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

The plastic insert in the center portion of my 07 CS is not fastened to the bumper at all, just flopping around. The little tabs on the bumper that the plastic snaps into have broken. There is a rubber tube clipped onto the insert that I assume is for the headlight cleaners. When I got the car eight years ago I installed metal screens on either side to keep the crud out. Any suggestions as to how to fix this? Any reason not to just do away with the insert and maybe silicone the tube to the opening? I know a new bumper would fix things, but I'd like to keep it simple and cheap. This is the biggest issue I've had with the car in all these years!

POST 2Original post

All of the tabs have broken!? IIRC there are tabs like every 2 or 3 inches? Curious how they could all be broken? You mentioned screens for the sides, did you install a screen in the center too? If 'all' of tabs are indeed broken my suggestion (keeping it on the cheap) would be to remove and clean the mounting area for the center cover, then carefully use a silicone based sealer to 'glue' the cover from the inside... Best to remove the bumper to do this.
