Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone know anything about those tech art springs that are made to be used with the stock shocks? It has been my impression that they are never matched right on the ricers until I saw the mtm ones that were made for the s4 that I was told were pretty decent but not perfect. Any thoughts? Also are the shocks off the 03 coupe the same as a 99? I was told the valving is better on the 03. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

If the springs are indeed matched to the factory shocks then they are the same free length and rate (basically identical to stock). Otherwise, there is no way they are really designed that way. (Porsche does a damn fine job of designing suspension systems, so it isn't a case of correcting a mismatch.) If you shorten the spring or raise the rate, the damper must be shortened or revalved (respectively) to keep from being mismatched. Otherwise you'll be oversprung or underdamped. If you want stiffer and lower, it's hard to beat the factory RoW M030 parts. -Paul
