The car looks like it has had one radiator replaced in the past, therefore just the left hand one to replace (no centre radiator).

If you can remove the front bumper, its not much more difficult changing the radiator.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The worst bit I found was when putting the radiator and frame back in, was trying not to damage fins on airocn condensor, but a stout piece of cardboard between then solved the problem.
I have a 1998 3.4 C2 that developed a leak from the Expansion/Header tank this weekend.
I gather that I will need to replace it with the £170 version for up to 2000 model cars.
What is the difference between the early and later versions apart from the £100 in the price?
To add to it the radiator has also decided to weep so it looks like I will need to replace this at the same time.
Any advice on places to get a good deal on both radiator & Expansion/Header tank?
Hi Craig,
Not sure about the header, i think you need opc for that.
As for the rad, i've heard forestfine are good or porsche-apart. However, when I did my rads, I contacted my opc with the best price i'd found (porsche-apart) and they beat it!! (and had them in stock).
Probably worthwhile doing both rads at once, 'cos the other will be on it's way out, i'd imagine.
Hope this helps.
You haven't said where abouts you are in the country.
You may have 3 rads at the front and if one is suffering from corrosion
then chances are the others will be as well. Looking at the age of the car,
I would suggest you change all the rads at the same time.

Sorry, I am in the North West.
I have had the front bumper off on Saturday. The car looks like it has had one radiator replaced in the past, therefore just the left hand one to replace (no centre radiator). This will be a DIY job.
Given the ease of removing the front bumper, I cannot understand the price for the parts to be fitted.
Replacing the radiator is a diy job. If you can remove the front bumper, its not much more difficult changing the radiator. Its just slightly fiddly when trying to remove and reinstall the hoses but not too bad. The worst bit I found was when putting the radiator and frame back in, was trying not to damage fins on airocn condensor, but a stout piece of cardboard between then solved the problem.
Changing the coolant tank is also a diy job but the fiddly bit is getting it back in . Check the instructions on Renntech which are very detailed. I think the later tank is a slghtly different shape (and price obviously).
The later header tank has support gussets to stop the splitting that happens on earlier tanks like yours.
Here are some instructions I did last year in the freezing cold!

The out come of all this is I managed, after a bit of shopping around to get the radiator, header tank & new cap for just over £300 and it took about 2 hours start to finish to fit and be back on the road.
Thanks for the help and comments.
