I suspect that this is probably more typical than not, but with no dipstick, just thought I'd check the pulse out there.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I'm just curious if there is a consensus as to typical oil consumption for the "new" 9A1 DFI's. In my case, I have driven from 29k to 35k in my 2010 BS with zero change in oil reading (and zero other issues as well). I suspect that this is probably more typical than not, but with no dipstick, just thought I'd check the pulse out there. I have seen several old posts about very low consumption of the earlier engines, but nothing much on the newer one.

POST 2Original post

Ditto. Approaching 30k miles and it's never needed a drop of oil between changes. Leads an easy fair weather life, though. No commuting or track days.

POST 3Original post

105k miles on my 2010 987.2S and only a small drop in oil level between changes. I add about 1/4qt over ~8k miles because I like to keep the top bar lit, but consumption is low enough that I really don't have to.

POST 4Original post

Not an S, but my '11 base 2.9L that just crossed 90k miles doesn't need oil added between 10k changes.

POST 5Original post

Depends how I drive and how long between drives.

POST 6Original post

model year 2010 box s...using mobil 1 0w40 synthetic and mostly highway miles. Can go the entire summer...approx. 2500 to 3000 miles and no need to add oil.
