With porsche being the only ones supplying these parts how much do think say replacement bearings will set me back?

Morning all, story so far, my C4 MY99 82k has been experiencing a rattle/whine for the last few months. Peter @ Motortune has the car and tracked the problem down to the gearbox which he will be stripping this week (1500 for used replacement inc Vat). He has advised around 10 hours labour all in plus whatever parts are required (suspected bearing failure - no issues with 2nd gear jumping). With porsche being the only ones supplying these parts how much do think say replacement bearings will set me back? Hopefully I will get a call today with an update on diagnosis and cost. Andy

Hi, We do that job and charge £1100 plus vat, this includes pinion bearings,seals and gaskets.. plus the diff carrier bearings. With full crown wheel and pinion height setup. Mike

Just an update: New bearings on order from Porsche......£400 lighter :x I'm looking at replacing the clutch whilst the gearbox is out. I'm budgeting another £400 for the part and labour won't be much because the gearbox is out.
