Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hey guys, I’m new to this forum, I just got my 987 Boxster a few weeks ago and I’m thinking about putting coils and maybe an exhaust on it. I’m mainly going to be driving it on the road, with maybe one or two track days, but I do appreciate good handling, which is the main reason I got this car. The car has around 50k miles and I don’t think the stock suspension are shot yet, still handles really well compared to anything else I previously owned. What sort of improvements can I expect if I switch them to Ohlins, and is it worth the price? On a side note, I know I will probably be moving and maybe having to sell the car in a year or so, and preferably I’d like to lose as little money as possible. Are suspension upgrades like Ohlins appreciated by most Boxster owners? I know the ride is probably going to be harsher, perhaps some people won’t like that. What about an aftermarket exhaust system? Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Welcome! I can't comment on what to expect from Ohlins, but I can tell you that I love the sound of my Cantrell Carnewal exhaust system. My wife doesn't complain as we tool around town and it's a magnificent bastard when I open things up on solo runs.

POST 3Original post

I have a Cayman with both Ohlins and a valved exhaust. While I am happy with both any modifications always reduces the number of buyers for the car in the future. Since I intended to keep my car I did what I was going to enjoy. The exhaust is fun a little louder than stock with the valves closed and the GT3 wail with them open! Any coil over is going to lower the car and increase the spring rate. This combined with a good alignment, corner balance and GT3 control arms that I had previously installed the handling has really improved but the car does have a very stiff ride for the potholed NY roads.
