Sorry for the noob question, i'm new to Porsches as I just purchased my first one recently which is a 987.1 cayman .. the car has a blown motor and I was curious if I would be able to use a 2.7 from a Boxster to replace the blown 2.7 in my base cayman ?

I think they can be swapped, fairly confident. It might be wise to find out exactly what is wrong with the motor in it before making a game plan.

2007 and 2008 Boxsters and Caymans with the 2.7 used the M97.20. They are the same engine.
