This is not a probability of success.

Just for info, I've just had a K&N induction kit fitted (which had been sitting in the garage for about a year), and it has improved the sound even more under load, whilst still being reasonably civilised at cruising speeds.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 1 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

They were clear that the mod had to be declared, and since it made no difference to my premium at the time it was worth doing for piece of mind.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've recently had the 'Oettle' type mod carried out on my 3.6 Targa through my Indy. I'm really pleased with the sound - no boom when cruising and a great sound when accelerating (thanks for advice Richard Hamilton). Indy also so pleased that he now advertises it on his web site with pictures!! :thumb: However, a recent thread on the PSE reminded me that this is a mod and I should thus notify my insurer just to be on the safe side. How do I do this to ensure that he fully understands that there is no performance improvement, just the noise and that it is the same as the PSE (which I assume does not affect the premium as it's Porsche OEM) without the quiet switch? What have others done and does anyone know of insurers that understand about this mod and don't increase the premium? Most grateful for any help and advice. David

POST 2Original post

I didnt ever disclose my Oettles. Visually they are the same but for the bypass pipe and I doubt anyone would notice them. Personal choice for peace of mind but I didnt bother.

POST 3Original post

I did mention this to my insurer when I had my Oettles fitted. They were clear that the mod had to be declared, and since it made no difference to my premium at the time it was worth doing for piece of mind. I also declared the mod with my new insurer. This also made no difference to the quoted premium. Just for info, I've just had a K&N induction kit fitted (which had been sitting in the garage for about a year), and it has improved the sound even more under load, whilst still being reasonably civilised at cruising speeds. <update - This induction mod has however just increased my premium by 40 quid! s0d it, it was worth it >

POST 4Original post

Also declared the same mod to my insurer last year, without an increase in premium  Safer to declare and give them no opportunity to wriggle out at any point. Simon

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for comments chaps. I too felt it is safer to declare and today I've just renewed my insurance through Adrian Flux (great service and price) with Aviva who didn't load the premium for the Oettle. :thumb: Cheers David
