My 98 C2 has a Sony XR-C8100R Stereo coupled to a Sony CDX-T65 multichanger. Was this an original option or somebody`s "improvement" Cheers in advance Steve

Definitely not original. It would have left the factory a Porsche (Becker) stereo. What you have is probably an improvement (without quotes)!

Most of the latest double-DIN satnav units look really good in a 996 dash, and have all the features you could possibly want. If you want an 'original' look, the Becker Grand Prix and Cascade are popular choices, and look OEM.
