I went through 3 sets of front pads before the front rotors had to be replaced, usually because of cracking, not wear.

Suggestion

I used it on my car and the only drawback is that it limits the steering somewhat (the hoses bind) and you have to replace the hoses one or twice a season, because they get tears.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I'm new to the forum and am seeking the worldly advice of those who have used Pagid Oranges. I installed a new set of brake discs & Pagid Orange pads a few months ago. Had 5 track days since and my front discs look like they're cooked - lots of judder when hot and the discs now have a blue/black color tone. While the conditions that I drive in can be considered to be rather extreme - F1 track in Malaysia with 60 degreeC track temps - I am surprised that the pads seem to have outlasted the rotors (which are getting skimmed today). Has anyone had similar rotor crunching experiences with the Pagid Oranges? I've just put in an order for a new set of Pagid Blues and Pagid Ceramic Yellows (recent replacement for the Blacks). Understand that the Blues squeel less (important for street use) - any truth to that? Any thoughts on the Blues or Ceramics vs. the Oranges would be much appreciated. Weng.

POST 2Original post

I ran Pagid Oranges for 3 years with GT3 brakes and never experienced the warpage or discoloration you describe. I went through 3 sets of front pads before the front rotors had to be replaced, usually because of cracking, not wear. Are you using any kind of brake cooling ducts for the front? If not, you may want to retrofit the 03 GT3 brake ducts on your car. Cargraphic also sells a brake cooling kit for the 996. Karl

POST 3Original post

I'm running PFC '97. My rotors get quite blue on track day, but after a day or two of street use they look normal. No sign of warpage, though.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Karl, I've got the GT2 brake cooling ducts on my car. These together with the Pagids & the braided hoses seem to have solved the brake fade problem but not the rotor crunching tendency. I'm seriously considering the Cargraphic cooling kit -thanks for pointing it out. Weng.

POST 5Original post

The Cargraphic kit appears to get more air onto the rotor. It captures air from under the spoiler lip and routes it via heater hose to a plastic part that points the air right onto the rotor. If the GT2 ducts are like the GT3, they just sort of divert the air towards the brakes. If you are having heat related problems, the Cargraphic kit may be a better way to go. I used it on my car and the only drawback is that it limits the steering somewhat (the hoses bind) and you have to replace the hoses one or twice a season, because they get tears. However, the hose is cheap compared to new rotors, so it's definitely worth it. Karl

POST 6Original post

Sounds like you warped the rotors. It is not a pad issue. You need to do more cool down after track sessions. Also, airing the brakes would help. I have brake ducts fabricated by Foreign Affairs Motorsports. No problems with their system after 20 track days. Talk to Bobby at [phone removed]. Regards, mike
