I'm sad to say that I'm selling my CS due to family needs and I'm looking for advice on how to price it. The car is Meteor Gray, with Sand Beige leather interior. It has a 6-aspd manual transmission with a
Numeric Racing shifter
. Having used "racing" in a sentence, I need to explain that the car has never been tracked or abused. I come from 50+ years of driving smooth shifting Alfa Romeos and wanted a better, more precise shifter in the
Cayman
.
Numeric
's shifter is what the car should have had from the factory; it is superb.
The car is in excellent condition, has a clean Car Fax,
Michelin PS4
's, heated electric seats, xenon headlights and only 52,500 miles on it. It's had three owners. The first drove the car for 613 miles and then returned it to the dealer to get an auto tranny. The second was a Chicago restaurant owner-auto enthusiast, who only drove it from summer through fall, having five other cars for other times of the year. My wife and I flew to Chicago, liked Dave and loved the car, and had a wonderful drive home to southern Washington.
I have a current CarFax report. It does not show all services, because the previous owner, like me, did his own oil changes. I put in new plugs and coil packs not long ago. I do have his records and mine.
This is a great car and I am loath to part with it. That's probably why I am having trouble putting a price on it. Does $33,500 sound right?
Lovely car. I'm going to say that you can determine the highest pricing on BaT, and then work down from there.
What desirable options does it have? What's the VIN #?
DME
over rev report? Oil analysis from a lab like Blackstone? Ever driven on salty roads up there in the NW?
These are the questions smart potential buyers will ask.
Hi, price sounds about right. What about brakes, any up grades here and brake cooling ducts. Does your car have a LSD and more solid motor mounts? Any additional wheels with sticky tires and modified LCA's adding more camber?

Thank you for the input, folks.
This is a lovely touring car that simply hasn't been driven hard, has never been on salted roads and has always been garaged when not in use. A look under the
Porsche
tells the story. It's clean and rust free. I have no brake mods and no extra wheels with extra sticky tires because it's not a track car. I stopped drifting around corners for fun when I sold my much-upgraded 1967 Alfa GTV, before buying the
Cayman
. I'm closing in on 80 and Dave, who put 41,000 miles on the car, is probably at or very close to 60. Our hooligan days are pretty much over -- fun while they lasted, but now only fond memories.
Haven't done an oil test or over-rev check because the car has never been driven hard. Well, I did hit the rev limiter once, a couple of years ago when I pulled onto a local road behind a new Ferrari and tried to keep up. Nobody's perfect.
As for options, the heated memory seats,
Bose speakers
, two sets of floor mats and xenon headlights are the highlights. I can send a potential buyer the options list, the Vin # and new CarFax report.
As noted earlier, the only non factory upgrade is the
Numeric Racing shifter
.
If someone is interested, I will share the vin# and CarFax in a separate email. bizgary at hotmail dot com will reach me.
Gary - please list it on our Marketplace. We try to keep "for-sale" posts limited to that venue. Thanks for your cooperation!
Gary,
Your car is most deffinately your pride and joy. Why sell it now, unless you lost your drivers license. Its paid for and all you need to do is keep the insurance going and change the oil once a year. I use my autocross car now as my bike carrier and tours car. No more racing as my times were going away no matter what books I read to look ahead, do alll the items the coaches wanted done, I simply was not as fast as in the past. I'm too competitive to see my placing going down the top time list.
So, I just enjoy it every other day as part of my exercise program. Unlike your ride, I modified all sorts of stuff, but still the car is remarkably trouble free. I get enjoyment all the time when in the regular parking lot on US I-5 freeway on my way to my favorite workout trail. I get compliments from all sorts of people with their windows rolled down. Even a Ford 427 Cobra replica gave me thumbs up last month, mostly due to the bike on top of my car using the OEM
Porsche
tequipment carrier. Model not my car, but you get the concept. Keeps me feeling the spirit of the
Cayman
. I even use the 3 years old race tires and the Ohlin R&T coilovers to enhance the cornering and braking. Keeps putting a smile on my face.
34-36k is where I’d start… of course not knowing everything…. I’d say your real close tho
