Are OEM exhausts too quiet or not free flowing enough - I ask because I just installed de-cat headers.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Trying to find an exhaust for my 987.2 that will keep me under 99db at 50ft from trackside while allowing me to continue running catless headers. This is for a track only car that which I occasionally run on a few tracks with sound limits. Free flowing, relatively light weight, durable enough for track use and quiet are the main criteria. Anyone have any luck finding such a setup?

POST 4Original post

Are OEM exhausts too quiet or not free flowing enough - I ask because I just installed de-cat headers. I also thought about cutting open a set of OEM exhausts and gutting them??

POST 5Original post

I don't have a functional OEM exhaust but they are typically on the heavy side and aren't very free flowing. This may be the best option that I'm trying to ignore. I did install my OEM headers temporarily which helped a bit but I won't know with any certainty until I'm back out at one these tracks. With more tracks having sound restrictions I believe a set of long tube headers with high flow cats will be part of my long term solution.

POST 6Original post

I may take the turbo kit off my 2011 CS so might be looking for a stock 987.2 cat-back exhaust if anyone has one and is willing to ship.

POST 7Original post

My 987.2 CS R mufflers with de-cat headers is a bit too quite for me - not sure what the dB level is but is is only slightly louder than stock
