Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Came up to him just before the back straight at Sepang and chased him hard for 1/2 a lap until he ran wide at T9.

Granted that I was running Sport Cups on my car, which should account for roughly 2-3 secs/lap advantage, it was incredible to see how close the "old" GT3 can come to the GT2.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Seen a lot of posts relating to the new GT3. Thought that I'd share some recent lap time data as an indication of how fast the new GT3 is likely to be given my experience with the '00 GT3.
I put a pro race driver behind the wheel of my car at the Formula 1 track in Malaysia. He recorded a 2:34 lap (on MPSC tires w/ 1 passenger). Same driver in the GT2 (on street Pilot Sport N1s w/ 1 passenger) recorded an identical 2:34 lap. Granted that I was running Sport Cups on my car, which should account for roughly 2-3 secs/lap advantage, it was incredible to see how close the "old" GT3 can come to the GT2. In the timed twisty sections, the GT3 was slightly faster than the GT2 - which made up a lot of ground on the long straights. In my far less capable hands, the lap time goes up to 2:36 (w/o passenger). The Asian Formula2000 champion recorded a 2:37 lap in a 996TT (Tiptronic on MPSCs). For further comparison, the fastest times that I've seen recorded in 996C2/4s & M3s are in the low to mid 2:40's.
At the recently completed inaugural Porsche Carrera Cup Asia race, the fastest qualifying time was 2:18 (full slicks) - in the new GT3 cup car that is largely similar to the new street car albeit with 10 more horses & 200+kgs lighter. Can't wait to see what the new street GT3 can do!
Weng.
It is amazing how close they show up. How long is the track?
On an off-thread note, how do the Michelin Pilot Sprt Cups compare to the Dunlop Super Sport Race tires you had previously?
Dear Weng,
Whilst you are the current undisputed king of the Porsche Club in Singapore as far as being bloody fast is concerned around Sepang and Pasir Gudang race track...it was with some amusement that I heard recently that you had a bit of a hard time shaking off a (heavily) modified Integra Type R during a Traction Circle Track Day... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> ....on the straights of all places....

Palting,
Have you had the chance to try the Dunlops yet? I recorded nearly identical dry lap times with both the MPSCs and the Dunlops. I ran the same hot target pressures on both. Subjectively, the Dunlops felt a bit sharper on turn-in - MPSCs tended to understeer a little bit more. Very little in it between the 2 in terms of absolute dry fast corner grip. Haven't driven the MPSCs in the wet but I think the Dunlops will be hard to beat given the thread pattern.
Harold,
News of embarrassing moments certainly travels fast. I swear that Integra R came straight out of the Fast & Furious movie set! Came up to him just before the back straight at Sepang and chased him hard for 1/2 a lap until he ran wide at T9. The noise emitted by his blow-off valves (in an Integra??!!) made me just a tad suspicious.
Rgds,
Weng.
Weng,
The other usual suspect will be Harold in his Saab, he has 360Nm of torque underneath that shell. Do not be surprised if you can’t shake off a standard looking Black Saab on the expressway..
