I then spent about 4 hours lovingly cleaning & polishing her (results below), and then early evening with the sun still shining my OH & I decided it was time to go for a hoon.

Sunday morning I 'popped out' to Halfrauds to grab some cleaning bits.

Errrm, and sailed past my exit onto my favourite back roads for a fun filled hour or so of swooping curves, long straights and tight bends to really test her (and me!) out.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello All
Time for a proper introduction as I finally picked up my 996 on Saturday.
A 911 has been my childhood dream. I've always been wild about cars (thanks dad!) but the 911 is just so iconic & has always held a special place in my heart. I never dreamed I would REALLY own one. And now I do
She's a 1999 Carerra 4 manual in viola metallic, purple just so happens to be favourite colour, so a purple 911 is pretty much my whole dream in one sweeeet package
I drove her home from Manchester on Sat, 5.5 hours of glorious motorway cruising, with a B-road detour thrown in. Once warmed up I got a chance to really stretch her legs - woweee! That engine at full song, the feeling when the revs climb past 5k and she starts to pull. Just amazing!
I grinned like a loon for the whole journey, in fact, I haven't stopped.
Sunday morning I 'popped out' to Halfrauds to grab some cleaning bits. Errrm, and sailed past my exit onto my favourite back roads for a fun filled hour or so of swooping curves, long straights and tight bends to really test her (and me!) out.
I then spent about 4 hours lovingly cleaning & polishing her (results below), and then early evening with the sun still shining my OH & I decided it was time to go for a hoon. He joined in with his Exige S & we had a mad hour of fun
To say I LOVE this car & the feeling of driving it is an understatement in the extreme. I am totally addicted & right now it fills my every thought. It took me 40 mins to do a 10 min journey into work (slight detour...) and I was out again at lunchtime showing her off to a friend. I think i'll be off for another evening drive tonight as well. SO fear not, as I am single handedly going to get UK out of economic doom with my petrol consumption
Anyway, enough rambling, and on with the picture whoring. And I hope to meet you some of you in the future at various meets etc. You can't miss the purple 996!
Picking her up, I think my grin says it all:
Yes, I did colour coordinate my dress to collect her in!
Finally home with the family:
Four hours of polishing later:
As you can tell, one very happy and VERY proud Porsche owner
Looks great :thumb:
I've still never seen Viola in the flesh, can't be many around in that colour
You never ever forget that first drive home, i had to do london to glasgow, didn't want to stop!!
:thumb: Thanks for the welcome everyone.
I have had a look through the Meets & Events forum but didn't see anything coming up, will keep checking though unless someone has a handy link please?
Absolutely LOVE this car, can't wipe the smile from my face!
Congrats on teh new car - looks great.

Awful awful awful
Awful colour, awful polishing and awful false enthusiasm.....
I still have that smile two years in... every journey.
It's so good when somebody meets their hero, and their hero lives up to their expectations.
Enjoy :thumb:
And give your dad a big hug too
